Fabric No Show / Spanish Gig? — Forum Archive

Well, back a bit earlier than I expected tonight. But then it is a School Night. Me and Paula on the sauce with Johnny Giles from 8.30m tonight then met up with Kezzie in Smiths around 10. Finally sauntered into Fabric around 11.15 to find out that the "World's Most Expensive DJ set" had actually been on from 9-11. Doh!

Anyhoo, Kezzie spots Arthur B in the VIP lounge, so Johnny G jumps on him. Me and Paula rescue Mr Baker. Turns out Barney DIDN'T SHOW (again, Doh!) and when we asked AB what gigs he's doing with the Order this summer he responded, "Well, I'm not doing the Spanish one", to which we go, "What Spanish One?" Cue Arthur B trying to backtrack desperately and denying all knowledge of any German or Swedish gigs to boot!

Oh, and despite the fact he lives over here, Arthur B still calls Finsbury Park, Fins-BERRY Park. How quaint. For all you non-UK types - it's Fins-bree park, okay?

We didn't get into the VIP bit - Arthur Baker was loitering (with woolly hat on - in a HOT CLUB!) outside. Only celeb in the VIP bit appeared to be Boy George (visible cos of his hat!).

Only Barney was supposed to show - apparently - er, and he didn't!

Yeah barney didnt show - as I suggested yesterday afternoon. Some quite mad tunes played in that 9-11 set, Bez played something that sounded like the Magic roundabout theme sped up. There was also a Mondays 24hour Party People/Kylies Can't get you...Bootleg which was pretty cool.

For some stupid reason I shook Boy Georges hand (don't get jealous now Shug).

Great sets from Emerson and Lottie. Now I've just got to get through the next 7 hours work. Bollox.

Flippin' eck. Back to the reality of work now, after all the excitement that was London village. Good to see Allen, Paula and Johnny - isn't Arthur Baker small?! Look forward to meeting up again in Manchester :) Well, I stayed until the bitter end, took part in some very silly dancing and seemed to spend a lot of time running up and down flights of stairs. Did see the real Bez, not that young chap I accused of being him ;), and my mate Liz had a long chat with him in the bogs. Also saw Boy George, but ran away after my mate Alan grabbed his elbow and shouted 'Oi Fatty':o
I enjoyed Lottie's set very much, although whoever was on in Room 3 at about 1:00 (I think it was Stanton Warriors) were the highlight for me. Kevin Rowland from Dexy's, resplendent in bowler hat seemed to enjoy them too :) Supppose I'd better do some work, if I can concentrate for more that 2 minutes.....

Sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves - that'll teach me to miss the thread about this event, won't it ?!

I did keep my eye out for you guys...honest! It's a bit difficult when there was that many people, and Fabric is a maze, even when you're (nearly) sober

I kept an eye out for someone fitting your description too, but Fabric was a bit crazy wasn't it? After leaving Johnny, Allen and Paula to find my gang, I didn't see them for the rest of the night! It was the first time I'd been to the club and it took me until the end of the night to get my bearings. The copious amounts of vodka I'd necked didn't help either....
