Has Steve ever said anything on stage?

Just wondering if Steve has ever spoken on stage....if so, when and what.

apart from singing Ceremony, Cries And Whispers and Procession in 1980, probably not

well his voice isn't miked is it. otherwise there'd be heaps of gigs where he's singing along with the songs.

You can often see him gobshiting away at Bernard or hooky from behind the kit. These days with the Vdrums, there are no open mics at all back there. In the past with the accoustic kit the noise gates were obviously set too tight to hear a voice.

DEF: A noise gate is a device which cuts all signal off when it drops below a certain level...so that for instance, the snare mic does not pick up a load of cymbals. Many comercial products such as mobile phones have them. You can hear one operating, because as thing go quiet, suddenly the "background hiss" will shut off...that's the gate closing. Gates on drums kits (tho more so the "close mics" rather than the overhead pair if used) can have VERY high thresholds owing to the sheer SPL (volume, broadly speaking) a drum can put out.

U ever wonder if when Bernard sort of breaks into giggles half way through some bollox or other, that it may be because Steve's hurling abuse from the back?

On the Apollo webcast you can see him yelling at Bernard a couple of times (notably during the intro to warsaw).

I think it's for the best that we can't hear him....it's bad enough with a double act without making it 3 of them taking bollox all night, we'd all be too busy pissing ourselves laughing to even hear any tunes they DID manage to get round to playing.

I'm pretty sure at Apollo he said thank you when B paid out his mistake at the end of Ceremony.

he does add coments using the medium of drums though. les dawson punch line style.

The only one I think is audible on live recordings is from Scamps 1980:

"Terry ...a bit more vocals on my side."
