I would have guessed that David Sulton (from worldinmotion.net) would have one of the biggest collections out there?
Myself? I tend to go for formats with unreleased mixes - there's probably loads of people out there with bigger collections out there! :)

I have a promotional poster of Item from a record store, the Interview CD from 1993, and the Factory edition of Brotherhood. There could be more goodies waiting for me in used record stores.

Well latest item from my collection, Peter Hook bass "HOT 1" used and abused by him for 19 years. For me it is a great honnor to have Hooky bass.

Mine is a Rob Gretton concert poster from the Ritz in MCR signed by Neworder on Robs head 
i think i'll have to grab my "new order" cd cabinet. i t contains about 130 cds of new order and order related music. after that i'd have quick rush back in and rescue my vinyl collection. smoke fire, i don't care i'm going back in there.

I am not sure, but so far I never met anyone matching my collection.
I do collect also Joy Division / Electronic / Revenge / The Other Two / Monaco and Factory Records.
I don't think I have anything I would save from a fire to be honest... I do have a lot of thing, but I don't think I have anything that is worth much money...
Well, a few promos that would snatch a lot of money on eBay, but I doubt that would be so rare...
But I do have a lot of material, I must have something around, hum, 200 items maybe?
That's still 1/5 of Mr Sultan, but I can live with this ;)
The question is, so I really have that much though? 200 seems a huge number, but I do have useless item such as a WFTSC mug and the infamous WFTSC scarf 
Actually that one might be the rarest thing I have... 
In simple terms of simple outlay, I think some of us Brits have splashed out some ridiculous amounts of cash, with fcuk all to show for it.

Well mine MUST but be the CHEAPEST collection in HISTORY.Not paid over £30 for any one item.It also is PROBABLY the MOST MINTY MINT IN HISTORY but as NESS once said(after seeing i had TWO mobile phones-but couldn't use ONE cos it was too NEW!),ROCKET you have a SERIOUS MENTAL problem!
But i agree with AL.In terms of BIGGEST FANS then it has to be the CRAZY VIKINGS.And they have spent that much money i thought it was them lead by JOHNNY GILES who had nicked £50 MILLION recently to fund a SOUTH AMERICAN tour.Turns out GILESY is in INDIA so it was probably POMPEY ORDER!

On my wall : an interview picture disc-limited edition with barney and hooky on it ! Is that rare ?
and Rocket Mick had two of the most impressive collections, they collect mad things like the Low-Life Venezuelan versions etc... 
My collection is everything official over the years, thrown in with (almost) every TV appearance and DVD Bootleg. Plus 200 or so of their best live gigs on CD and numerous tour / band t-shirts.
The best memories though are me Uncle John getting me into the band in the first place and the gigs and get togethers with all the characters on here. Barcelona last year was fucking great, about 15/20 of us (including Vikings that don't post on the site)
And no-one can take away the (vague) memories of a 3 hour lock in we got with Hooky up in Glasgow after one of his DJ sets - held at my mates bar or getting backstage at the Apollo last year and finally getting a picture with Barney.

As fer rarest items, I have some White matches from the Hacienda given to me by Rocket and some Factory sellotape framed which was also sent by JT.

should've got the twelve inches of new order ruler when i had the chance...
Thing I'm most proud of is the Puerto Rico gig poster from 1989. Have got it framed in me living room. It looks good, is a reasonable (fairly small) size and it actually matches my curtains: blood red with a hint of gold.
Everything else I've just got locked away in me spare room.
I'm more into the live stuff;

I don't have all the official release, they personally don't do it for me.

I've got, somewhere in my mums loft, a letter from Rob Gretton containing a laminated backstage pass for their aug 84 uk tour along with a sticker for the studio 54 barca gig.
Not a great collector, moi... Just the albums and whatever singles I can pick up second hand, and as for coffee mugs and mousemats...
Only music I ever religiously collected/still collect is anything on Sarah Records...

all of the original factory releases on vinyl (singles and albums); all the LPs on cassette and CD; item, 511, 316, NO story; 50-60 live gigs on CD.
Hmmm good question... I think nobody can be compared to Sultan. So let's try second best. I have over 400 NewOrder items, plus 250 for JD/OT/Electronic/Monaco. I don't collect live tapes, audio or video. I have a few (like 4) bootlegs CDs that I never ever listen to. And I just count them because they're not cd-rs. Most of my items are music - I'm very poor on memorabillia. I also collect KLF 808 State The Smiths and oh well Morrissey.

Has to be monseiur sultan . He has without doubt the Biggest norder collecky in the world,hats off to the man for his dedication,Having said that he does seem to have a bottomless pit of money!
The rockets collection is probably the mintiest of them all,he did say that it was a cheap collection too,its bound to be when folk keep sending him promos!
Nick kings collecky is pretty similar to mine,although i think he may have a few more promos than i have .
At the last count i think i had 200+ promos inc side projects.
My own collection is as some of you know about 13 A4 pages long,certainly not the biggest or best,but i dare say that i have probably one of the most up to date and complete promo collections in the uk.
Having said that though,i find that i am getting "tired" of trying to get all these different promos that turn up on ebay.Jees there are bloody hundreds of them,so unless i can get them for a song then my promo collecting days are numbered.
Its not a race,its not showing off,mines bigger than yours mentality,its about dedication to the cause and to be honest i didnt even know what a promo was until 2001!
We are all new orders biggest fans whenever we buy there music,so does it really matter?
I would probably say the nicest thing in my collection has to be an absolute minty mint copy of the still hessian lp inc original ribbon.

i only have one crystal promo. i do have just about all their vinyl which i got when they first came out. before the wftsc single my last vinyl was technique.

From what I understand, David had a 'HOT TOO' commissioned and swapped that with Hooky for HOT 1.
The rest of us, it appears, are fighting for second-best.
But collecting is one thing that's easy to quantify. How it compares to the dedication of the widely-travelled Vikings is a moot point. There's also something to be said for some far-flung international fans who've remained true despite the lack of tours, exposure, excessive cost of collecting, etc.

Too right JT - i've still got all my Sarah Records stuff & still play them - cor remember Fieldmice, Sea Urchins, Blueboy etc. Those were the days. Bristol not Manchester eh. Pristine Christine indeed!! Remember Foxdude records down Leicester (i believe)- they used to get some quality stuff in, remeber getting a promo of 'Leeds Station' by Parachute Men. Ha the memories :)

Now Hooky use HOT TOO as his main bass, HOT is the spare one.
Much respect to the Viking for representing all over the globe.
although i started buying in 81 my collection really started to grow when i discovered ebay. you never saw any promo's here in the Netherlands but with ebay they're all over the place. :) so my collection is ... NO - 660 JD - 260 the rest 220 i do collect live shows as well, now just under 200 :)

if thor heyerdahl could travel by raft....
i would say the only things that would be very hard to replace would be my vinyl acetates. the rest could be bought again if i had enough time/money. i would also save my pc as all the info i gathered on NO is on there and all the live shows i collected.

Probably bugger all - I'd definitely try and save other things over any records/cd's etc... All things in a collection can be replaced at some point in the future, and for those that can't - ah well, such is life!
