I prefer, the Sessions. About almost all of NO sessions sounds raw and unrehearsed and they are popular in my books.
Most remixes sucks and drains the life out of the song. I like some Live songs. But sometimes the sound crew could fuck up the songs in one gig and be perfect next gig, unpredictable. (cant wait to get BBC live so I can hear Sister ray)
Live can be hit and miss - but that's what makes them interesting.
I'm not a massive fan of remixes, but there are a few fookin diamonds in amongst the pap.
The Peel & Lamacq sessions are fucking amazing.
I still choose LIVE though.
I prefer the live stuff. I just need more bootlegs from the 80s when Barney changes the lyrics around. :D
If it came down to having NO/etc release a box set of live, remix or sessioned music, I'd ask for the sessions.
Especially rehearsal/otherwise unintended reels of studio time that manage to see the light of day. :shy: Can't help it, I just really enjoy them.

My favourite of all (at the moment) is certainly Will's fantastic Peel DVD, followed closely by DM's brilliant Brixton recording, which I listen to at work most days when I need a smile.

Sessions, the two Peel Sessions from the early eighties have better versions of the tracks recorded than on the albums, Truth and DNE from the first one are amazing and as was discussed in the NO cup the hidden gem of Too Late makes the second session... I have said it before - not a great fan of remixes and while the live stuff is interesting, I prefer to listen to studio versions...

The sessions are usually live recordings from within the studio - no way would they get four tracks done in a day unless they were done live!
To these ears, you can't beat a live recording, warts and all. The fact that the warts were caused by bad playing is immaterial ;)

it depends: sometimes live, sometimes recordings. rarely remixes. the only remix i can think of that i prefer to the original is the pump panel reconstruction mix of confusion.
Gotta have my bootlegs, sessions are just the same thing with no audience and a sound crew with a better clue, or less vodka in their veins :D
Yeah, i remember getting a live tape, i think from Brixton academy early 90's and the vocals were terrible!! Didn't really play it after that. Although, i do like listening to Live for the comments!

Live, even at their most shambolic, to quote Alan Wise, they're Crap and Good at the same time.
You ever heard a DJ drop the Shep Pettibone remix of 'True Faith' in a club on some cheesy 80s night? Place goes nuts.
Even the Order seem to like what Oakenfold did with the 94 version, or they wouldn't be using parts of it LIVE.
Does anyone prefer the original 'World' over the Perfecto and/or K-klass mixes? How about the K-klass remix of 'Ruined In A Day' - or the remixes of 'Spooky'? I believe Paul van Dyk and Fluke serve up winners.
I'm sure the 'Jetstream' remixes trump the original.
Remixes aren't bad, guys.
i went for remixes. when i did that, i was really only talking about the 80's. it's some of their best stuff, and one of the major reasons for new order's continued importance. after that... really, after '87, the remixes got a bit... anonymous. if you can't tell that it's a new order song, it's a failure. not too many after the reunion really count, although there are some crystal mixes that work. i actually like one of the here to stay mixes... not much to recommend about the later stuff though.
remixes ? this is like New Order seen by X or Y...
live ? let's face the fact that they are not the best at this exercice...
session recordings ? I like the rough side of it - the genius at work...
