The support they had at Newcastle Mayfair in 1986 was pretty dire - can't remember their name however - that's how much of an impression they made on me. Didn't get a very good welcome either, to say the least.

Seems like I've been here before......this thread happened about 5 months ago.
Chat Show at Oxford Apollo 86, WonderStuff Brum 86 are two painful experiences that stand out....
The first 4 times I saw New Order between 1983 and 1987 they were supported by a band called The Wake who were also signed to Factory. If anyone knows where I could buy their material I would be most grateful. I think I read Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie was in The Wake before he was in Jesus and The Mary Chain but I'm not 100% sure if this is correct.
Garlic (2nd brixton gig 2001) really sucked! The only good thing was the sexy female drummer.
At reading 98 in the afternoon, quite a while before new order there was this awful band fronted by a fat old bass player who couldn't sing.... can't remember who they were... ![]()

I totally agree. Thanks for telling the name of the band, so I can keep distance from them.

Thank's a lot for that info. The worst New Order support bands I have seen are A Guy Called Gerard and The Royal Family. I was quite impressed with Gabrielles Wish who supported them at Brixton in October.
I saw the ORDER at Glsgow Tiffany's , supported by the Wake, what a load of Bollocks they where. Im gonna rename em the Wankers.
