toss that list in the bun,no ysf?? watsup with ya.?

I think the point is that the title of the post should be: MY real Best of New Order, then no problems with no YSF, etc., trying to claim that any particular selection of songs is the REAL best is futile and a little ignorant. Fair enough to discuss what other people consider to be their definitive compilation, but to claim that something so subjective is definitive is just asking for criticism... I have my own best of list but I would never claim it was the REAL best...

I remember making my own version of a "best of" for a friend of mine that spanned two discs. It was basically every single with one album track to go along with them. It jumped around between 12 inchers, album mixes and single mixes. Not sure which exact versions I used now, but either way it started at "Ceremony", had both the original "Temptation" and "Confusion", then ended with "Here to Stay". I even crammed "Brutal" in there since it was played on the radio here in the states. It was a much better introduction than "Singles" turned out to be.

Let's pretend CDs never happened. 40 minutes no more, no less.

  1. Ceremony
  2. Dreams Never End
  3. Temptation (7")
  4. Age of Consent
  5. Perfect Kiss (12")
  6. BLT
  7. Vanishing Point
  8. Regret

That's probably over 40 minutes actually, but an LP's worth.

There's no point to this list, except that there are a lot of great NO songs and a lot of them are rich thematically, melodically, and, I daresay, lyrically at times. So listening to just a handful usually is an engrossing experience, unlike the Ramones, unless you had never heard the Ramones before or anything like that.

Nice selection, pretty much what I would put give or take a few minor changes.

Wot no World in Motion?... :nono:

World In Motion is a simple pop song. I am an early fan, since Joy Division era. I can't include a track as World in Motion in a best..

Now I remember it. As I mentioned, it's basically a mix of "The Best of" combined with "Substance", although I made it a few years back so it doesn't have any of the WFTSC singles. Took a lot of work figuring out and finding the right mixes, but each CD clocked in at 79 minutes with like 20 seconds to spare, haha.

Disc 1

  1. Ceremony [7 Inch]
  2. Dreams Never End [Album Version]
  3. Procession [7 Inch]
  4. Everything's Gone Green [12 Inch]
  5. Temptation [7 Inch]
  6. Blue Monday [12 Inch]
  7. Age of Consent [Album Version]
  8. Confusion [12 Inch]
  9. Thieves Like Us [12 Inch]
  10. Love Vigilantes [Album Version]
  11. The Perfect Kiss [12 Inch]
  12. Sub-Culture [Album Version]
  13. Shellshock [7 Inch]
  14. State of the Nation [12 Inch]

Disc 2

  1. Paradise [Album Version]
  2. Bizarre Love Triangle [7 Inch]
  3. True Faith [7 Inch]
  4. Touched By the Hand of God [7 Inch]
  5. Fine Time [7 Inch]
  6. Round & Round [7 Inch]
  7. Run 2 [7 Inch]
  8. Vanishing Point [Album Version]
  9. World in Motion [Original Version]
  10. Regret [Album Version]
  11. Ruined in a Day [Radio Edit]
  12. World (The Price of Love) [Single Edit]
  13. Spooky [Minimix]
  14. Nineteen63 [Arthur Baker Radio Edit]
  15. Brutal [Original Version]
  16. Crystal [Single Edit]
  17. 60MPH [Single Edit]
  18. Someone Like You [Album Version]
  19. Here to Stay [Single Edit]

He knows what's up, apparently... It's not a bad little list, but we all have our favourites... Diggy Mike and Blue Monday, for example...

Indeed, and for it to be hijacked... I still think if he'd have called it MY real best of... then people wouldn't have been so critical, although I suppose if you take suggestions as criticism, you're going to be annoyed whtever happens...
