after Denial - Macc '85

"Who said we were a synthesizer band?"

"Oh fuck off"

"You bastard"

During Elegia (I think) Hooky stepped onto his monitor cab and launched his bass into the gobby guys face.

Saw the guy after the gig. Hooky got him slap bang in the mush

Just after Ulraviolence some wanker shouts, "Come on lads, give us Blue Monday!" Audible is another wanker telling him to "shut your fuckin' mouth!"

Actually Sumner was in top form at the Gold Coast BDO gig - lots of chatter about how much better Australia was than 15 years ago. More yaughts probably... And another quip about NO fans not being robots, 'which is why we love you so much'.

It was a good day out.

Have not read the entire thread so not sure if this is mentioned but the best banter is at Birmingam 84 when Hooky has a row with the resident DJ...........

New Order finish a short set and the DJ is on the PA trying to encourage the band back on.

Peter Hook ' We only came back on to tell the DJ what a Fcuking Dickhead he is'.

DJ ' That works both ways then doesn't it?. They want more, just give it to them'.

Peter Hook 'Why don't you just fcuk off?, mind your own fcuking business'

No it was Hooky. Barney had his back to the stage at that time, and was sorting out the strap on his bass.

The Tower Ballroom '86 was good but for pure abuse Berlin 1984 prior to Temptation with such gems as " Your the most miserable fucking audience we've ever played to in our entire fucking lives" and "We're never ever going to play Berlin again".

Barney of course apologised after the song :D

I was standing not too far away from said DJ and it has to be said he was a complete tosser! Think he cranked up LWTUA when it looked like they might not come back on for the encore and I think he played some JD after the support act left stage too. There was real menace in Hooky's face....wonder if the DJ got home that night!

Your the most miserable fucking audience we've ever played to in our entire fucking lives" and "We're never ever going to play Berlin again".

But he said that in a very calm voice and added a spit on at the end. But my verssion of the gig it is really really quiet inbetween tunes as if it was a sbd recording.

Keep in mind when they played in Berlin in 2001 Barney says he did not know why it took them so long to return to that city.
