"? (The Best Of) New Order" Ever On DVD?

Taking that "Item" DVD does not feature "True Faith-94" and "Round And Round-94" videos that can be found on "? (The Best Of) New Order" VHS, I'm asking, will Warner Bros ever issue the aforementioned VHS in DVD form? I'd love to see it issued on DVD. Would you?

And BTW, I'm relatively new on these boards but old as a community member (joined January 2002). I'm as much a New Order et al fan as you are. And am looking forward to post on here after 4 long years again.

Good question - I doubt whether they ever will reissue (The Best Of) New Order on DVD now that Item's out there, but you never know your luck! :)

As to why they left off some of the videos off Item, God only knows (even as extras)...

That VHS is in my Top 3 of all time. And will never ever throw it away regardless of a constant format change. Do not get rid of your good ol' VCR at all!

"True Faith-94" and "Round and Round-94" are different videos from the originals? Well, I guess it would be prudent for Warner Bros/Rhino to release the Best of DVD.

Yup. The first sums most of their videos made between 1983 and 1993 up in, while the second is with the GIRLS, not A girl as in the original.

DVD releases follow the CD reissue pattern.

1 - just the basic original 2 - extra stuff added 3 - remastered/enhanced print etc [2 and 3 sometimes the other way round] 4 - completely new transfer, enhanced sound, more extras 5 - producer's/director's cut (with tracks/footage removed from the original now restored; or, for films, was removed for the first dvd release and put back later!)

6 - for films, this one can occur at any point between 1 and 5... widescreen film issued as academy ratio 4:3, then reissued as "widescreen" but still only 16:9 and then - if there seems to be a market for it - in the original cinema ratio for people like me who don't give a toss about black strips at the top and bottom of the picture.

TO SUM UP: unless there are legal reasons involved, it seems certain we'll be getting a dvd with the missing videos, or perhaps a dvd with those videos included but some others excluded, to be "enhanced" and re-included in the next bit of exploitation (not to mention the eventual dvd equivalent of Retro.......)(and the "re-imagined" video versions.....)

Isn't it great to have a few beers and use this forum to explore one's cynical view of the entertainment industry?! H

can you think of any examples of music dvd that have had htat done? films, sure, but music dvds?

It wouldn't at all surprise me that they'll turn up somewhere in some format - the current trend seems to be reissuing albums in DVD format, with the addition of promo videos and/or live performances...

Give it 5 years+, and you never know...

(Music industry will try and reissue everything that makes them more money and the artist bugger all)!

Recycled video material? - how about:

1. Nirvana - fantastic band but short lifespan. 7 dvds including "Inside Nirvana" 1xdvd Jan 2005 and "Inside Nirvana" 2xdvd Nov 2005? Didn't even wait 12 months!

2. Sex Pistols - fantastic band, even shorter lifespan. At least 8 dvds currently available with pretty limited material. How many others issued but no longer avaiable?

3. Beatles, Rolling Stones - a zillion dvds of recycled material.

4. And how about TWENTY EIGHT Deep Purple dvds from play.com alone?!

Ok, so new footage is occasionally discovered (or in my experience "rediscovered") but, jeez, capitalism sucks.

i keep meaning to get my best of transferred to dvd. i sort of put that on hold with collection having come out.

Oh yeah, Massive Attack - they released a DVD collection a couple of years ago (where you had to print out the cover!), and have just released another DVD collection as part of their "Collected" Greatest Hits set! :)

bjork has a lot of dvds, but they've been good about keeping the material pretty exclusive to each one..

except maybe the best of, but even there they had an extra dvd, called volumen plus so you didn't have to buy it all over again..

No, it's the other way round, the video with all the girls is the original one

It is? Thank you for leting me know that, Monsieur. I can only blame the VHS compiler, MTV and VH1 for making a confusion in my head about it the most. They stated it wrong.

That is what botheres me the most. If I was a record/dvd company I'd be having enough of that by now. There are so many other VHSes that yet have to be recycled.
