Get Ready VS. Waiting For the Sirens Call

I am still debating which is the better album. I was initially put off by Get Ready mostly because it strayed from the dance/electronic format, but after a few years, this album still seems strong, while WFTSC sounded great at first, it has lost some of it's luster for me. I am stil undecided, even though I think they are both great. Any thoughts?

I think this is the third thread we've had on this in recent months...

The overall concensus seems to be that WFTSC is the more liked of the two, but it depends on which side of NO you like best.

For me it's WFTSC by a whisker...

Its a great thread to return to. I definately feel (now that we can look at WFTSC historically) that Get Ready is better of the too.

I agree with the other persons comments. WFTSC hasnt got as much longivity and has become a bit boring in time. I only really like Whos Joe? and Turn nowadays.

i'm starting to side with get ready, although it is still close in my mind. Sirens does seem to be a more traditional new order record, with a good mix of synth and guitar based songs.

I think Get Ready is a better album. WFTSC for me has only 3 really good tracks and the rest is garbage, on get ready i think the songs are stronger, although the lyrics are sub-Par on both albums, with the exception af a few songs

WFTSC is a better album for me, but it's a tough choice.

I like Get Ready more. I don't know why, but every song on Waiting for the Sirens Call seems about a minute too long.

get ready. more solid songs and no jetstream.

i'm pretty bored with WFTSC these days.

Listening to songs like Jetstream or GIAUE makes me feel sometimes they have got bored with writing stunning pop songs while on GR mostly every song is driven by some weird energy. Just a personal opinion... Some great songs on Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Turn, Who's Joe, Waiting...), but the lame ones destroy the whole image, I fear. I go with Get Ready then.

ja Katoffelsalat scmeckt gut. i find with the advent of cds that albums now usually two or three songs longer than they should be.

Good topic. I didn't like GR when I first got it, think I had an image of NO and it is not your normal NO album. Definately has grown on me, and I love the album. The only beef I have with it is that the album feels that NO lost their place in music and are trying to compete with the younger bands who dominate the radio scene.

Whereas WFTSC IS NO, no doubt about it. There are a few weak songs, and the addition of the female vocals kills some of the songs, in a cheesy way.

As an album GR is better; however, WFTSC is the direction I want future NO albums to go.

After an 8 year wait, Get Ready was like manna from heaven to me, 'Crystal' just blew me away and IMHO there isn't a dud track on the album, however WFTSC has not yet overtaken GR but give it another year or so and who knows

I think I must have played GR more than any other album I have ever owned.

WFTSC has replaced it on the NO rotation stakes - but it's getting a lot less rotation than GR... not sure if that's because I liked GR more or not... I played GR so much partly because it was so long since Republic had been released...

I was going to say neither, but that implies I don't like them... I think they're both pretty much on a par...

Erm, the rest one both GR and WFTSC, I suppose, I hate vry few NO songs (except Liar )

Since Get Ready contains 6 of my favourite NO-tracks and WFTSC contains 7, it is the latter for me...

This is a tough one, but I have to go with WFTSC. It has my favorite song on either album (Guilt is a Useless Emotion) and it just sounds more like the NO of the late 1980's that I love.

And going on these top three on both albums for me,i have to say that the Sirens wins hands down.

6. Crystal (though Close Range is within very close range of #3 here!)

I don't play either of them very often, but if I do play anything at all it is usually tracks 1-3 of WFTSC and that's it. You can keep Get Ready, only Crystal would ever get in an oldmonkey top 20.

Waiting For The Sirens' Call.But i don't play either of them that much.But probably due to a time factor rather than not likeing them.

i'm a get ready kinda guy, i don't dislike wftsc at all but i just always tend to listen to get ready over the latter

Get Ready was like NO trying to remain relevant. Unfortunatly it ended up sounding like the kind of bands that were current then. Funnily enough, so did WFTSC!

But if you combine the two and the relevant singles/B-Sides, you'd have a cracking album!

Get Ready by a long shot. For me, wftsc was like making up to my gf and not being turned on anymore. Like it all died overnight. But I like the idea of listing my personal favorite tracks from the new era.

Hmmm...

When this thread was brought up about six months ago, its was firmly by about 2 to 1 in favour of WFTSC. I championed Get Ready then and still do now. The difference between the two albums are that Get Ready reignited my obsession with NO, whereas WFTSC has nearly snuffed it out. My only interest is NO live currently, and the desperate hope that they can blow us away with the next album, and don't make us wait 3 years for it.
