Me and my wifey were watching CSI:New York last night, and in the intro "Beautiful Day" by U2 came on, prompting a verbal complaint from myself (never been a fan in the slightest). My wife responds "Why don't you like them? They sound like New Order" 
Is it too late for an annullment? 
Bootiful Day is a great song IMHO and some of the stuff on the WFTSC LP ain't a million miles from this...

I once had a girlfriend who passed a very similar remark, needless to say we are no longer together!
Hey, I've slagged off U2 a thousand times, but not so much because their music is sub-par, but because they don't deserve all these goddamn accolades. I'll tolerate U2 over a lot of other stuff, and certainly wouldn't castigate my girlfriend for a faux-pas.

my dad's obsessed with them. the walls of the house look like a shrine to paul hewston. I don't really see what's so great but oh well.
U2 was great with Joshua Tree and prior. . .everything after was so crappy. . .I really despise "One", which seems to be everyone's favorite song of all time. . .plus I hate Bono and his "great" political acheivements(which is all crap).

I guess that's why the UK doesn't like U2 as much-they're just crap copies
Typical North American New Order fan also likes Depeche Mode and The Cure.
And we all know it's not the case in England ;)
New Order are a great band. U2 are a great band.
Why the teenage "me no like U2 cos they get more awards than NO"?
And to say NO came before U2 is just laughable.
And like it or not, they are in the same area of music.
