Favourite Barney vocals on a NO track?

My favourite vocals (by Barney) on a NO track would definately be 1963 (the original version). I think Barney is on top of his game 1987 - 1991 and this vocal just stands out as it oozes confidence, dynamics and is totally beautiful and flawless (IMO).

Close runners up would be Dream Attack, Loveless or World in Motion.

I just listened to WFTSC last night, and he does some good singing on that album. Maybe it was studio tweaked, but it still sounds like Bernard to me...his is style just a little altered on some tracks.

WFTSC and Dream Attack stand out miles better than anything else to me, can't pick between them.

The bit where he clears his throat and spits out loud on "Lonesome Tonight".

That's the best Barney vocal performance IMO.

Not even the hysterical yelps and whoops on "Hurt" come anywhere near close (and those are pretty damned hilarious as it stands). :)

agreed. he knows his lyrics are completely ludicrous and the laughing makes what would be one of the dumbest lines in NO's repertoire absolutely charming.

I like the true story about when they played that track to the record company or somesuch and they asked Barney on hearing the hysterical laughing.... "yeah, that's all very well, but where is the finished version?" to which Barney replied - "that IS the finished version!!". Imagine the bemused frowns all around! :D

Um, Temptation 87 is a peak vocal performance. I like Mesh, Cries & Whispers, and Procession a lot. But Temptation 87 is a great vocal performance. Same with True Faith, even though I don't think it's one of their best songs.

I agree with you on the songs youve mentioned. True Faith is a brilliant vocal performance (and no surprise as it was recorded in tandum with 1963).

I cant relate to why people think the singing on Waiting For The Sirens Call is so great. I think its ok at best. The chorus is actually very flat if I was to be picky.
