Hey People,
Next week I'm going to London and then Manchester and then off to Dublin and Belfast. I'm from Toronto and I've never been there.
Has anyone been to Manchester recently? Or do you live in Manchester? I'm looking for good clubs, pubs, bars to check out.

I live in Hull, not the Canadian one, the one in England. And it's about 2 hours away from Manchester and I'm soooooooo gonna go and live there when I'm older. As it is, I'm only 13, so I can't even afford a bus ticket to Sheffield yet. But yeah...it has an airport...and Barney. Good enough for me.

The shops on Oldham St are funky and different,go to the Urbis museum near the big wheel.Best food is the Tai Wu restaurant on Oxford St,stunning.
Do the open top bus tour in Belfast its interesting.
Go to the Guiness museum in Dublin.
Try and go to the best city in Britain - Glasgow,but avoid the folk in green and white hooped shirts.They're evil:evil::evil: :evil:

you would have to visit the northern quarter (bohemian part of town) with loads of clubs and great atmosphere. While you're up there, you would need to visit oldham st with all the shops and clubs (dry bar amongst all the others). It's worth going to the famous 'curry mile' rusholme and see what's the real curry is all about! It really depends what you would like to see...give us some clues 
when in dublin, you have to visit the guiness museum! and oscar wilde's statue and sample all that guiness

Yeah, best part of town is the Northern Quarter. (I am biased - living above Bluu!) Goto Cord and Cenro on Tib Street, Fringe Bar on Swan Street (wicked selection of Belgian beers and an excellent jukebox), Bay Horse, Matt and Phreds, Dry, Night and Day etc...
For clubs, you won't beat Sankeys Soap. It's a dirty sweatbox but the music and soundsystem is class! Make sure you go 'cause it will be no-more from June 9th and 10th...sob!!!
Stay away from the Printworks, it's garbage!
Student bars and stuff - Oxford Road. Scallies - Picadilly/Gardens. Deansgate Locks/Castlefield - Wanna Be's(!)
Foodwise - curries and stuff, Rushholme - although mass produced and not very authentic. There's a few little Indian type cafe's in the NQ - supposed to be alot better, not been myself though. Good Sunday lunch - Simple, although the service is poor. Steaks - gotta be Gaucho Grill, Italian - Piccolino's or Croma. Chinese - Yang Sing. Fish - Livebait.
Shopping and stuff - some independent quirky shops in the NQ, posh shops on King Street, high street shops on Market Street and the Arndale centre, then there's Selfridges and Kendals. Try the Trafford Centre too for shopping.
Other clubs to try - Roadhouse, North, Tangled (Phoenix club), err.....not too sure about others, I'm getting old now and don't go anymore...!
Trying to think of other stuff but I've got a hangover and my head hurts! I'll think of more stuff.
Manchester's wicked, you'll love it!
I've been twice but both were short trips. I went to see Transmission in the main square last year, as well as going to Macclesfield, but that really doesn't count as Manchester. I also wondered around the city a little.
I was there at the beginning of March but it was only really to pick up a coach, so I went a pub and a part of Manchester Uni. Got to ride the Magic Bus. If it really is magic.
Deansgate has a good run of bars along it.Start off at Shambles pub,a listed building which has been physically moved about three times in its lifetime! Then onto Deangate,Moon Over The Water,which used to be a cinema,so you can imagine it's bloody huge.Walk up to St Anns Street across from House Of Fraser and just near top of St Ann Street across from Frankie & Bennys,there's a passageway and Corbieres Bar down the stairs.The best jukebox in town,NO,Joy Division,Fall,Smiths,New York Dolls etc.Oh and cross over Cross Street,you've got Sam's Chop House which does a few cheeky pints. Printworks near the big wheel is ok,but a bit expensive.At least you've got Hard Rock cafe in there.
Oh and if you're there on April 21st,you could try Star & Garter near Piccadilly Train Station.The DJ's supposed to be shit!
Ooooh, I forgot about Sinclair's (...dunno how, I was in there 5 nights a week not so long ago - wicked in the sunshine too), Sam's Chop House and Corbieres...! I love Corbieres!
I think I'll be making an appearance at the Star and Garter Monty - not been posting on here long but sounds like a good bash.
Ok it kinda sucks that I'll only be there for 3 nights as it looks like there's a lot more to do. I will like to visit Macclesfield. I also want to find where Pennine Studios (Oldham) was as it's the place where they recorded An Ideal for Living and I covered No Love Lost in the competition.

oh and not to mention that if you are a smiths fan (like myself) you HAVE TO see all those places connected with the band! Strangeways, Parkers Hotel, Salford Lads Club, G-Mex, Victoria Bridge Roundabout, Morrissey Mosaic in Northern Quarter, Ancoats, Free Trade Hall, Hacienda, The Ritz, Granada TV, Palace Theatre and so on....:)
oh and as for the clubs, brickhouse is a good one as well (whitworth st), a good cinema would have to be cornerhouse. If you are into industrial atmosphere of town you have to visit Castlefield and those red-brick bridges:), Ancoats just to see those mills.
As for NO fans, i reckon that you would have to spend some time in Salford as half of the band was born and raised there...It's not as bad as they say it is:), after all i live there!

If you are a Morrissey fan you'd be far better off ignoriong all those drab buildings with precisely zero entertainment factor, getting a ticket to a gig (loads of Ebay!) and having a few laughs.
And stay away from Salford. Cack all there apart from crime, art galleries and posh apartments.

London, well, it's London, bring a raincoat. Belfast is too cold! but the train from Belfast to Dublin is amazing. Manchester rocks! you must go to Oldham Street and visit Picadilly Records, I love that record shop, one of my favourites. Dublin is my favourite city in the world, I never get tired of Dublin, visit Free Bird, a small and cozy record shop just few steps from O'Connel and Eden Quay corner, The National Gallery is great and Merrion Square is perfect for a picnic breakfast. Enjoy! (oh! and if you order a tea, say "black tea" otherwise they'll put milk on it, I don't know why, a tea is just a tea ;-))

Didn't even know about the night before I left Toronto. I'll be going back to Manchester once a year for sure.
Went to Dublin and had a great time. Uncle Liam doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm in Belfast now and it's also F'in great. Recommend Dublin and Belfast to everyone.

Don't have all the pics of Manchester yet but it was a sad moment to be taking a photo of someone's apartment...
Belfast was beatiful! Here was the view from our cottage 20mins outside of town...
Have got a pic of me at NewOrderDisco and Dublin but will get it next week.
