Linkto a lengthy interview with Tony WIlson.

Maybe this is old news but I've never seen this before. Interesting. Says at one point Sophia Coppola was being considered for directing the film on Joy Division.

does anyone know if the bit about Hannett quasi-inventing the AMS DMX 15-80 is true?

Dunno about that, but Wilson has stated that fact in other interviews, so obviously he believes it! :)

i read in a recent article (could have been the Q manc special , i think it was that machine, that he was one of the first or the first to get one of those machines and he constantly went back to the bloke who made it and said i want it to do this or that.

Yup, I think that's where I read it too?

Speaking of Tony Wilson, you can hear him on BBC Radio Manchester these days occasionally, although I forgot what days and what time he is on the air.

He wrote a letter to the Observer in which he stated that Hannet knew how to make speed in the bath.

Truly the mark of a genius.

Blimey, he was clever.

He does an afternoon session on XFM Manchester too.Heard him the other week interviewing Bruce Mitchell of DURUTTI COLUMN.Also he played Marcel King.Never knew he was in Sweet Sensation! AHW was saying that Marcel was that broke,he was living rough in his car. Excellent tune with Mr Sumner on the twiddly knob desk.

A poorly sub-edited feature, that. You've crappy spellings like Greton and Rusel for fuck's sake!

Cop this too (talking about his dog):

He's actually had the snip but that would never calm him down, and has got me in a lot of trouble with Peter Saville because his girlfriend used to think she was a wolf when she was a teenager, loves dogs and wolves, and I got into a lot of trouble from Peter for having giving William the snip and it's made no fucking difference whatsoever.

Forgive me but what the fuck is this about? It implies that Saville's bird errr...prefers Wilson's dog to not be castrated - for what reason? I shudder to think why she would prefer the dog un-snipped as it were but this is Wilson talking and half the time he makes no sense at all. No wonder abuse him in the street!
