New Order -"Industrial Dance"!!!!!

Just been flicking through the music sites for New Order references and came across this wonderful page where they list hundreds of acts grouped under (sometimes dubious) genres. According to this site, New Order are listed alongside such industrial greats (!!) as Ministry, KMFDM, Thrill Kill Kult, Penal Colony, Nine Inch Nails, PTP, Revolting Cocks, Die Krupps, Frontline Assembly, Swamp Terrorists and Pailhead. The discography section only lists seven releases, going no further than 1985. This must surely be the laziest New Order listing I've seen yet. See for yourself by clicking on this link:

Many of them are obscure that's for sure. It's kind of like the equivalent of our own UK encyclopedias of rock where all the bands are kind of catalogued under genres that the writers assume must be most appropriate but insome cases are so wildly off the mark as to be ridiculous. For example, I saw an older (1999) volume by Virgin publishing listing 90's bands and under the Indie-dance (yuk) section they listed Curve and My Bloody Valentine. A couple of remixes notwithstanding, since when were these two acts considered "indie-dance"?? Likewise, Orbital and Leftfield were spuriously catagorised under "rock/pop"....when there was clearly a section on electronic and dance acts elsewhere..... eh?? Utter bollocks!!

Ha ha!! That's a goodie you got there Hubert! Just can't believe how slack some of these "educational" sites are! It appears they just couldn't be bothered simply trying to update the lists....arseholes! :finger:

The only thing vaguely "industrial" about New Order - apart from their obvious beginnings - is the metallic clanking noises on "Senses" off "Movement".

Probably got the connection from the old Factory posters, or realised that NIN covered Dead Souls.
