So you don't think he's suggesting being jerked off then? just a thought :nono:

It's either got to be a blow job or a hand job. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine is trying to turn a gay guy, and Jerry explains to her that gay guys have access to the "equipment" 24/7 (thus more practice time) and a woman has access to the equipment maybe a couple of hours of week, so she has no chance to compete. I lean towards a hand job myself, as it's something any guy would have far more experience with than any woman would.

Don't go down that road, AW. We all knew what the big oaf meant.

haha, I don't know what it refers to, I just figured that he says that because "thing" rhymes with "bring." Those are probably some of the worst NO lyrics, but I love them because they make me laugh!

It could be anything...aren't we reading a bit too much in the lyrics, here?

I think this song is about a girl that helps Bernard overcome his erectile dyfunction problem, she helped him overcome his "guilt" with that thing she does... and she helps him more than all the money he spent to solve the problem, and get him "back on track" with "that thing she does" ...

and I base this theory on pure conjecture and wild spectulation, and that Bernard prolly has ED because he is over forty, overweight, and has abused numerous chemicals/alcohol/tobacco

That's pretty deep...

I, personally, think it has to with Bernard getting a good session of Fellatio. Because it's an art most women don't know how to perform (well spoken), "B" is letting her know she does a great job.

Fellatio is a job for anonymous groupies (the standard rock star fringe benefit), but this girl sounds more important like he prolly knows her name and she still has all her own teeth.

Apparently, whatever it is, it's another color than gold. And he really shouldn't have to buy it, he's Bernard Sumner. Yet he still feels the need to say he belongs.

Aside from the obvious fellating references, maybe just for a moment we imagine it's about some smart chick that made him feel a sense of home - could bring him back from his ups and downs, knew what to say and when to not say a thing, and can likely cook a good meal.

I know some more bad lyrics from NO, I don't think any of them touch GIAUE. For instance, "the sea is making me sick, it's better than arithmetic" :wtf: Or "yellow fever yellow hay" in Times Change. Bernard needs to get his poetry on track. How about some Rilke or Plath? :read:

She must have looooove technique!

Re: bad NO lyrics, there's the classic "Is it love or is it hate, banging on an open gate"; "Here comes love, it's like honey, you can't buy it with money"; and the ruler of them all: the "World in Motion" rap. :D

Oh yes, and the "Sister Ray" cover with that thing about "because your name begins with B."

Wonder if it's the same girl that did that thing to Mike Skinner:

"And I must admit I was quite shocked, with that thing you did with me on my back"

We should be told.
