I have the Finsbury Park DVD and they were fighting because the bass was too high on Temptation. They're always bashing each other in interviews, yet they haven't broke up. We think that Peter and Barney are engaged in a heated, unresolved tiff, and then news of the boys going on tour this summer arrives. You would think that a band that fights that much would have broken up long ago, ya know.....

It really is. My friend's affectionate way of saying hello to me is something along the lines of 'fuck off'.

I can't believe some people are so literal here sometimes! Do you believe everything you see, read and hear about them? Unless they start fighting on-stage as the Davies brothers used to, I think they've a lot of time for each other still.
They're life-long mates and were at school together. Yes it's true that things were jaded between 1993-1998 because by then they'd spent a long time living in each other's pockets and that's tough on any relationship. The band were at a low ebb creatively at that point which is to be expected, having been together in some form for sixteen years by then.
However not for nothing did they name their 1986 album Brotherhood*. That's one of the greatest things about New Order: they're definitely Gestalt in that they're greater collectively than the sum of their parts.
* They wanted to call the album Fuck but Wilson told them the likes of Woolie's etc would not stock it if they did!

Hang on a minute, wasn't "Fuck" actually one of the three or four working titles they had for PC&L back in 1983?
The others included : "Piss Off You Lot" and "How Does It Feel"
Mates are always at each other's throats. Should've been in Athens last weekend. 9 lads who, for the most part, all get on. But it was Moan moan moan moan all fcuking weekend! And the two I've known the longest, a good 20 years, are the two I cane the most. It's just the way a lot of lads deal with one another. Call it banter, if you like. It's nowt out of the extraordinary.
