Q Magazine: The World In Motion Story

Flipped through the latest Q Magazine (Festivals issue) and saw a two page (one page photo) feature on the making of World in Motion with interviews from the band and players.

Out now in the UK/Europe..next month in North America/ROW

You mean a magzine is actually doing something related to NEW ORDER instead of re telling the Joy Division story for the 18493th498t403-48th time?

I am a little sick of seeng New Order get overlooked for Joy Division.

The Maanchester issue of Q recently had barely ANYTHING about New Order but tons of stuff about every other Manc band. Pissed me off.

I wanna learn mor eabout New Order. As far as I am concerned, they are a lot more interesting than Joy Division.

I guess that these days Joy Division is "cooler" than New Order though.

couldn't agree more.

I don't think i've read *one* review/interview on NO that didn't mention ian curtis. I'm not saying he should be photoshopped out of NO in a Stalinesque manner, it's just a bit silly to read about ian curtis when the review is supposed to be a paragraph on *New Order*

I think also that New Order should try to stop talking about Ian Curtis in interviews. - They have been doing that for too long. Also stop dedicating songs to the late man. He´s been gone for 26 years now, move on.

I don't think it is them so much talking about Ian as the media and general interest in him that prompts them to do it. Those who die young in always interesting for some reason.

I think New Order's music is a million times more groundbreaking and interesting than Joy Divisions.

I think Barney is more interesting than Ian.

I think JD have about 8 or 9 really great songs.

New Order have about 30 or 40 great songs.

But JD seems to be "cooler"...

Joy division has a 'stunted' growth. That's why everyone starts pondering what could have been. It's a like revisiting the good ole days, which is nonsense.

New order on the other hand was the way to develop. I agree that New order is more interesting b/c they had to deal with how to get beyond joy division.

Good article,and there's a small section on Phil's old band MARION as well. Becks was the original choice to do the rap,but the FA wouldn't let him! Just as well..it'd have been more of a novelty record!

Suppose your right me old chaffinch,but as someone pointed out further up their is still a lot of media interest in senor curtis and as wilson quite rightly said he was the most charismatic lead singer of a generation,i think the guys are only right talkin about ian in interviews and dedicating songs to him,they could've just moved on and not bothered with new order.He was an original of the species that later became goth? With a new film being planned and countless books out and a few more in the pipeline,then wouldn't anyone big up their own part-product ?,i know i would!

I think its good that they have also included some jd songs into their setlists,lwtua is always a crowd pleaser and they didnae play any jd songs for such a long time,i do have to admit tho that barney isn't a patch on ian when singin jd songs!

Just had a thought, the Liverpool gig is the day before the World Cup final, now I'm not being racist here, but I really hope Eng-ger-lund have been knocked out by then, as I like World In Motion, even bought the T-Shirt in 1990, but twice before I have had the "pleasure" of hearing Keith Allen doing the rap bit live and I'm not sure I can handle that again !!

C'mon the Scotland (that's Jason Scotland of Trinadad & Tobago) !!
