Less Hate, More Joy Division Ian Curtis biopic planned Source: Production Weekly

The life and tragic death of Joy Division signer Ian Curtis will be chronicled in All The Time, to be directed by music video helmer Jamie Thraves.

Curtis committed suicide in 1980, with just two Division albums complete. His bandmates moved on to become New Order, but there’s still a huge cult around Curtis, with his story cropping up in the likes of 24 Hour Party People.

All The Time will use Mick Middles and Lindsay Reade’s book Torn Apart: The Life Of Ian Curtis as its source material, with a script from Tom Browne. It’ll look at Curtis’ early efforts to launch Joy Division while also working a day job.

With a shoot planned for Manchester, expect it to start production this year.

What happened to control??? This sounds like something totally different? As I thought Deborah Curtis was involved?

There are actually two films. And thirdly, a documentary in the making as well, I think...

Don't forget the thing Shamberg is working on. Or is that the documentary?

By the way, anyone have the Shadowplayers DVD that just came out? I'd love to know if it's any good.

Shadowplayers is excellent - lots of amusing anecdotes from Wilson/Hooky/Larry (Section 25)/Saville, etc.

Answers quite a lot of questions that may (or may not) have been answered before (I haven't read all the Joy Division books out there).

Anyway, throughly entertaining - only covers the period up to 1982(ish) - hopefully there'll be a part 2 at some point down the line...

Also just got the Factory Graphics album - very nice! :thumb:
