This beauty...

What a fantastic watch. Loved it from start to finish. Extremely well put together with funny and touching stories. Too many good bits to mention but the bit about the Bury riot (with photographs) and Savilles explanation of how the Movement / EGG sleeves came in to existence are just two.

Add to that the fact that the Factory Records Complete Graphic Album book landed on the mat today too, I've been in Fac heaven all morning.

Yup, watched the Shadowplayers DVD yesterday - I particularly like the comments from Larry (guitarist from Sectrion 25) - hilarious!

And yes, that Bury riot discussion's a classic!

Yeah, the Cassidies were tops. James was perhaps a bit too "Nice" about giving the Names so much screen real estate time, but for the most part this is worthwhile viewing, even if it could have used a stronger narrative element.

Hooky genuine's emotion about regretting not having paid Ian Curtis was really touching. And it's good to hear Martin Moscrop give the true story behind the legend of some hapless EARS engineering zeroing out the record of the "To Each..." recording.

But I can't believe nobody's yet commented on Annik Honorè's appearance here...talking about how she came up with the name of Les Discs Du Crespuscule...and the Belgian Boiler's still retained a portion of the quality that got Ian in trouble in the first place, may he rest in peace.

Seeing Jaz Coleman in this was a bit disconcerting, though. Yeah, I know he was on the same bill as JD and SXXV a couple of times, but hearing him talk suggests that he felt that the Northern oiks couldn't hold a candle to his eminence...you might as well have invited Spandau Ballet, given their name has the same Joy Division-esque SHOCK! NAZI! appeal.

Yeah, you could argue that The Names and Minipops didn't really do much to advance the Manchester music scene, but I suppose they were there to add weight the Benelux discussion. Just to have Annik Honore appear may have seemed a bit odd.

It did at least show up another "quirk" in the Factory business plan - pay for a Belgian group to come to England to record a single and then write a throwaway "well, the music is more important than the money" comment on the bottom of the balance sheet when it makes a loss.

Ordered it earlier this week to provide some relief from all the footy... Sounds like an interesting watch...

I agree about the appearance of The Names and The Minny Plops! Hardly the most influential figures of the post-punk Man/Factory scene.

Nice to see long lost, former ACR front man, Simon Topping making his first public appearance since an M People promo vid!

Also good to see Chris Nagle given recognition at last.
