Bowie, Iggy join New Order Stars set Ian Curtis biopic soundtrack

David Bowie, Roxy Music and Iggy Pop are among the acts confirmed to join New Order on the soundtrack to the new film about Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, 'Control'.

As already reported on NME.COM, New Order, who formed from the ashes of Joy Division after Curtis committed suicide in 1980, are to perform the score for the movie, which begins filming in July.

But the soundtrack will also feature original Joy Division and Warsaw (as they were initially known) songs.

Other acts set to appear on the soundtrack include Buzzcocks, Lou Reed and the Sex Pistols, reports New Order fansite worldinmotion.net.

How are you? Cheers for that CD you sent me, really great stuff on it. If there's anything you want in exchange, feel free to ask. All I've done is receive stuff.

But yeah, the soundtrack for the film sounds good.

It's just old material, no? As in, New Order are the only ones actually writing new stuff (or re-recording old stuff) for the movie.

Looking forward to the soundtrack. The one for 24HPP was quite good.

Have a great time at the Liverpool gig - I'll be in Germany watching the WC 3rd place play off. Maybe it'll be England (maybe not, hopefully we'll be in the final).

No probs re the cd.

Woah... did I just read that NME actually gave credit to somebody else?

They have been stealing info over here for ages... now they FINALLY credit a fan site! Congrats David!

Nice to see some credit for a change, I remembered some other news in the past taken for your site without credit.

I guess there will be the real soundtrack as heard in the film, plus the 'music inspired by' crap, which is where the guest artists figure.

i wonder if what TW said about choosing the songs for the artists and only allowing them 48hrs to record them will actually happen. I like the idea, but there is alot of star power being mentioned, and they traditionaly don't like being told what to do.

TW: Bowie, you get to do atmosphere, and I need the track by friday.
