Just wondering what the difference is between Run2 and the album version?

Well have you seen the Run video? They use Run2 for it.

If you havn't then to put it easly, they added the chourus to the end of the song.

Run2 is only on the Run single. All other New Order Cd's that claim to have Run2 are incorrect, its just run.

Cheers. I thought so cos I recently heard the singles album properly and couldnt notice any difference between run and the mislabelled run 2

There isn't a great deal of difference between the two... The extended mix from the Run2 single is a different beast altogether, rather spoiled by the 'dancey' drums which run (!) all the way through it...

Yeah the extended mix is a bit pointless. At least it comes with 2 versions of MTO!

Run2/MTO. The last truely great NO 12" single. Everything since then has been remixed shite.

As has been mentioned:

A1: Run 2 - Identical to the soundtrack for the Run 2 video. A2: Run 2 (Extended) - A remix/extended version with a breakbeat. B1: MTO - Instrumental b side. B2: MTO (Minus Mix) - Remix of the b side.

If you have the right software you can rip a full quality digital version of Run 2 from the "Item" DVD which was released last year. It's the version that should've been on Singles but they just lazily reused the Technique version (again). IMO, you're really not missing much with the rest of the Run 2 12". The Extended version adds nothing new except a jumpy breakbeat which couldn't sound more out of place if it tried.

MTO is gash, I'm sorry but it is (of course that's just my opinion) and the Minus mix is even worse. It's a shame because Don't Do It (earlier Technique b side) is really really good but then the band went and came out with this.

I heard a rumour (on this board I think) that NO didn't even write MTO but that an engineer knocked it out. I wonder if there's any truth to that?

MTO was actually quite a big dance tune in the north of england,at the likes of Wigan Pier,Shelleys and not forgettin The Hac.
