I was just curious as I picked it up at a used cd shop yesterday which 12 album tracks and 5 bonus tracks and wondered if anyone could tell me anything about this one ?

Semi-official CD, made in Portugal.
Tracks 1-11 recorded at Arrow Studios, Manchester, May 3-4, 1978 (unreleased RCA demo). Track 12 recorded at Brittania Row Studios, London, March 1980. Tracks 13-17 recorded as Warsaw at Pennine Sound Studios, Oldham, July 18, 1977.
part of it was meant to be their first album, alas they went with factory and it was never officially released.
The last track on the CD usually starts arguments on here.
You're No Good For Me was left off several Joy Division discographies, in fact, I don't think it's mentioned in the Heart & Soul Boxset for starters.
I definitely think it's Joy Division (Warsaw) but several others disagree.
Also during the Closer recordings, the three songs which never made the album were released on a limited 10,000 run of a 7" flexi given away free (with NME I think?)
Komakino, Incubation & As You Said.
I love this CD, this was kind of the way the band wanted Unknown Pleasures to sound (live) With this CD you get a good idea of what the early sets were like as none from 78 have surfaced.

Shug, did you ever get that unofficial Italian Joy Division booklet with the 3 track CD? It had all the JD lyrics in Italian with a sort of greyish/blue cover. No photos of the band but weird 'sketches' of Ian inside.
The CD listed 2 versions of The Kill on it (one was mislabeled I think) and You're No Good For Me. (or was it As You Said?!) Can't remember but it's an interesting enough item.

My Uncle John had the first press of that book in the early 80's if memory serves correctly....and it came with a 7" single rather than the CD which accompanied the latter book (I may be wrong here). John also has the 7" flexi as well. Sadly I don't have that in my collection either.
I am sure I have the book (Thanks to Muffy) but not sure about the CD / Single. I will have to double check when I get home from work 
EDIT: I think the single was the same as the Flexi (Komakino, Incubation & As You Said) Again....I may be wrong.
That CD which you mention is definitely in The Rocket's collection, but I cannae remember which songs are on it.

ie The Kill is only listed once. The disc states that this is the Warsaw Demo July 18th 1977 and was manufactured in Austria. I agree with Shug "You're no good for me " is deffo Warsaw albeit in a very primitive stage of their development.

It's deffo Ian. Might he have done a demo with The Panik though after all? Strange that Hooky denies all knowledge of it, he's usually spot on with that sort of thing. Bernard's forgotten writing Procession, so we can rule him as inadmissible ;)
The backing vocals on You're No Good For Me sound like Hooky.
I reckon it's early Warsaw too.

Ah we must have different versions of the bootleg cos mine is definitely a 5" CD in a white cardboard sleeve. I don't have it with me but I can remember in the tracklisting there were definitely two The Kills listed with the second one being called "The Kill #2".
Must be a number of different versions of this boot floating around. Or did I end up with a bootleg of a bootleg?!

I now ONLy own the RECORD and booklet.The CD and other book are now with BIGINRECORD's collection because i wanted him to have a little SPECIAL item from my collection.After all he did do a LOT for me!Cheers COL!

wasn't the komakino flexi given away at the hac? it's a factory item, so doubt went to the nme - though they have had fac numbers for things those have usually been awarded after the event.

The "Warsaw" title was mostly a marketing ploy, as 85% of the songs on there were recorded after they changed their name. Might as well distribute a bootleg called "stiff kittens"

Aye, YNGFM definitely sounds like Warsaw/JD... At least it sounds (from memory)like Ian and Hooky singing on it... Similar style to the other early tracks on the Warsaw CD... Haven't listened to it in a while, as it always makes me cringe...

The Komakino flexi was given away as a freebie to distributors like Pinnacle, Rough Trade, Cherry Red, etc... who were independants and distributed Factory products. It was re-distributed to record shops and was also given away directly by Factory and some even found their way to being handed out at a couple of gigs, if memory serves.
The Hacienda Christmas Flexi was given away at the Hacienda, but a box of a few hundred were unearthed in the Factory basement a couple of years later and advertised free in NME - you had to write to FACTORY/Hacienda to get your free copy.
