My god it even has a real tracklisting... could it be true that this will actually be released something like 5 years after they talked about it?

Shug's DVD was ten times more interesting than this one they're releasing too; no interviews or TV appearances here even though (thanks to Shugster) we know they did loads of 'em. I'm just pissed off they decided not to open the vaults and give us some remastered demos on a second disc like Hooky did with One True Passion v2.0.

Well it has my 3 favorite songs (Like no other, Vivid & Twisted Tenderness) so thats good, but its a shame we have everything on it. As for the dvd, missing late at night video is a shame since it was one of their better videos. (Why when I watch it do I think of the vikings?) Its also missing one of the Getting away with it videos, Feel every beat Extended video, and two alternate Get the message videos.
I will still get it for the dvd, even if I think my dvd is better.
Well lets see if they release this in North America with a NTSC DVD???

Actually since I don't own the RTP singles, there are songs I actually don't have on this ;)
Funny they consider b-sides as "best of"... true they had good b-sides like Warning Sign and Second To None.
Is it just me or is it a weird release? 
They did hardly any promotion or gigs when they were current. Other than New Order/Smiths fans, who will remember them? And most people who cared have got everything anyway. i just can't see anyone giving a shit especialy as there is nothing new or obscure on there to entice you.

I actually got into Electronic by hearing the song "Getting away with it", and I'm a huge New Order and PSB fan, so I actually like them.

Go out and buy the albums then and you'll have 80% of this Best Of well before the release date All the albums are dirt cheap on eBay so you're looking at under a tenner for all 3 normally.
I couldn't be any more underwhelmed with this Best Of if I tried really, most Electronic fans can knock that tracklisting out onto a CDR in five minutes.

Sounds like you need a code-free DVD player. They are about the same price as the "regular" ones. I purchased mine through the internet after googling code free dvd. I live in the U.S. so this is absolutely necessary if you love British music like I do.

It would have been great with ALL the video's, but hey-ho it's better than a kick up the arse.

As for the Best of... well it is a wasted opportunity. Can't believe they have left out Second Nature, and the ommission of Some Distant Memory is a travesty.
Still, Electronic kept me going through the lean years, and the debut album scored a few brownie points for me with the ladeez in Magaluf at the time. Well done boys

just who here is going to buy this? i think most of us own the albums and a few singles. thanks to a certain somebody we even have just about all the video footage as well.
a bit more extra stuff like remixes and b sides would have been nice.

I think leather girl put it best...those who care have the lot already and can knockout any superior song list of their choosing, inclusive of the b-side singles. It is hard to imagine either bloke having any input into this, but then again underachieving is low mark often aimed at and hit. After the superb eponymous s/t debut, Electronic became a band that put out marginal albums with some really incredible songs on each release. Ahhh, too lament the potential, and remain melancholy over the delivered results. And to think they locked themselves in a basement to toil away on an album that was obsolete by the time it saw the light of day. Hash is hash is hash no matter how served.
Yes, a very questionable tracklist. It cries out for Second Nature, Dark Angel, and When She's Gone.
The tracklist on both discs is shit. I already own all of this stuff so I won't be buying it.

Yes, I know I already own many of the tracks, but nonetheless, I love Electronic, so I'm definitely going to buy it.

Maybe the marketing was in the hope of attracting new listeners? I cant belive this was for anyone that was around for the first time

Even though I own all three studio albums by them, I'm still planning to buy it. I don't have a few songs that are on it ("Imitation of Life" etc...), and I would love the DVD that comes with it. I think it's stupid to flat-out dismiss this release as complete rubbish.

I am hoping that the omission of 'remixes' from this is a sign that perhaps they are going to issue a Remix compilation. That would be truly wonderful, for me...as long as it is cohesive and all-including, especially Second Nature. It would be a great opportunity for them to include chestnuts and rareities and all that lot.
Anyone know anything?
(I gotta say that I'm looking forward to a re-listening to the first two albums. I aint gonna buy this thing, Im just gonna dig out my old copy of the first two albums.)
a little memory: I read about the album before hearing it, so I knew about Neil participating and all that; then I heard Getting Away With It on Miami radio. My first thought was that Barney sounds so relaxed in his vocal effort- he's taking lessons from Neil, who is equally limited and knows how to deal with it.

It will find it's way here stateside and be bought by the leisure, bourgeoning middle class who are bulging around the middle themselves and who have become as lackadaisical as the the selection contained within, equally matched by the lack of effort it took to do this. In other words, it's the perfect product for those who find it the object of their desire. This derriere expanding lounge music will always be framed by "Getting Away With It" and "Disappointed" - both tunes that remain stirring, heart strung classics. WTF....dusting off the memory blanks - by the time Sumner and Marr had surfaced from their subterranean dungeon with actual hard copies of RTP, their teeth were green, their confidence eroded, and the music market had flipped 180 degrees. Out of this evening came the self-imposed impression they had something good, something special that would later serve up equal portions of embarassment and historical marvel. Only the hiring of Arthur Baker and the dropping of some major power chords on the next album level the listening field. Believe it or not, this story is a lot more true than some would ever care to admit I shite you not. God, no wonder the album sounds so panty waist.
I will get it, assuming I can find it somewhere, purely cos I dont have any Electronic videos whatsoever... but was it too much to hope for all the videos on one disc? they should actually call it Disappointed :\ohwell:

Not to labour the point (too late!) this Best Of is a poor effort by anyone's standards and a wasted opportunity for unreleased music or a new track to appear so THAT's why I think it's complete rubbish. Even the b sides in the tracklisting can still be found on their original CD singles (eBay) for no more than a few quid each.
I will buy this CD/DVD but only cos it'll complete my Electronic collection.

Take a page out of the book of Revenge 'One True Passion V2.0' or Grace Jones 'Compass Point' or John Lydon 'Best of British' or indeed any half-way decent compilation featuring rarities, remixes, even unreleased tracks. What the FUCK is everyone getting so excited about?

I would have preferred a "singles" compilation with this tracklisting:

For a second disc, they should have just compiled all of the b-sides and sold a DVD separately, perhaps adding some live footage (Dodger Stadium, Cities in the Park, etc.)

I actually prefer most of the Electronic stuff to post Technique New Order. Electronic's debut album was light years ahead of Republic which if most of us are honest, was crap.
So I'm looking forward to this new Electronic compilation. I have all the tracks but what most are forgetting is that this will all be digitally remastered too.
I pre-ordered mine, CD + DVD using my Nectar Points as they ae having a half price offer at the moment. Cost me the equivalent of £5.50 :D
