I just found out about New Order a few weeks ago. So far my favorites are Crystal, True Faith, and Turn My way. I know this is pretty newbiesh, but can I have some people tell me what the best songs are? If the song is already said, say the song that you feel is the second best. This way, I wont have 20 people say the same song. Thanks. :)
Just got into New Order - Best songs?

Well...I think the best song they have ever done is the perfect kiss...but that is just my personal opinion!
and temptation isn't half bad either!!!
Welcome to the site, it is not bad to ask for some pointers on where you should explore next
All of the album Technique is good quality, probably New Order at its height.

You have to start somewhere, right? My favorites are Leave Me Alone, Sunrise, Broken Promise, Procession, Ceremony, True Faith, 1963, Vanishing Point, Special, Everyone Everywhere, Primitive Notion, Crystal, Vicious Streak, Here To Stay
Have fun discovering a wonderful band!
I think besides the mentioned the whole album of Low Life is pretty awesome especially Love Vigilanties and This time of night, Well all of the albums are really great!
Some of their b-sides that are great are Don't do it and Every little counts (pretty funny), behind closed doors (from Crystal),Best and Marsh, and 1963.
Off the new album some to try are Someone like you (one of my favorites), Primitive Notion, Vicious Streak, oh the whole album is great.
Some others to try: Paradise Brutal State of the nation Temptation (wonderful track) Dreams never end Your silent face (also GREAT live!!!!!!!!!!!) Leave me alone Everyone Everywhere Regret Spooky Times Change Ruined in a day Special (Wonderful!!!!!!)
If I really think about it there are very few songs that I don't like. They are just a really great band! I really don't think you will be disappointed.
You should also try their side projects, my favorite is Electronic and a good album to start off with would be Raise The Pressure.
Good luck and welcome to the NewOrder family! ![]()
I'd probably listen to Movement last ... I like Movement ... But I think their other releases are a little easier to get into ... As mentioned above, try listening to Substance.
my favorite song is the perfect kiss (fac 123) age of consent regret i love also mr disco from technique from movement "it's a strange day, and such a lonely way, i saw some children dance, i saw my life in a trance". what a cool moody song. reminds me of the eternal somewhat.
welcome
your in good company here...
get all the music, you will probably find that you will like just about all of it...
Substance is a good way to get exposed, like was mentioned above, to the "older" stuff; and best of, rest of albums also are pretty good in there own way too
ENJOY
It's impossible to list a 'Best Of' as that's just down to individual taste, however there's a few 'Obvious' songs which the majority here'll probably agree on. You'd have to check earlier threads but there was one poll where we each had to name 2 tracks, and at the end of that 'Perfect Kiss' and 'Temptation' took the top spots with 'Ceremony', I think, coming third.
Has no-one noticed this guy's name?
Dunno who you are - but 10 out of 10 fer the name;)
Check out all the songs - except for the one they recorded in 1990:evil:

You shoulda called yerself Imataka Takinthepissa:D
You lucky, lucky fellow.
If you havn't heard all new order's suff your in for a treat. There are so many great tracks I dont know where to start. Get the Technique album for a start every single track is an absoulte corker! realy great "fine time" "round and round" "Mr. Disco" the track which goes "Grow up children don't you suffer at the hands of one another" - sorry I'm too drunk at the moment to remember what it's called - new order never make it easy to rember the name of thier tracks!!!! - blue monday!!! - christ what a tune - then you've got all JOY DIVISON tracks to listen to! "love will tare us apart" "atmosphere" "decades" jesus christ buy the "closer" album its fantastic - "1963" which is the b-side of true faith unbelieve-ablely-fucking ace. I got into them when i was 18 and had a shit load of their back catalog to get through - so much great stuff - the best group in the world bar none - promise me you'll get the Technique album it really is fan-bleeding-tastic.
Dodgy grammer Dan but i agree totally, but whatever you do yellow magic orcestra boy steer clear of Republic
Repubic - is poor by New Order standards - but "Regret" is fantastic - one of the best singles they have ever done - sorry about my grammar and spelling but I went to very crappy school and am a bit thick like.
yeah, you should definately look into joy division if you haven't already (i was into joy division before i even willingly sat through an entire new order song, but that's just me). unknown pleasures is more accessable, but closer is better. find live videos if you can!!!!

oh there's too many to name (all the standard ones people have mentioned. perfect kiss especially). but good luck unearthing them all cuz when you discover a band this good, it's like buried treasure.
