It is hard to come up with a top 20, since NO is one of the few bands that I actually seem to like most of what they put out for music.

- Perfect Kiss – perfect in every way. Their defining moment for me, an electronic symphony with a big orgasmic ending. Never beaten.
Things get too blurry after my top 5.

It naturally follows that a US Movement (and we know it doesn't, before anyone argues the toss) could feature Ceremony, IALP, EGG, Procession, Hurt, Temptation, Mesh, C&W etc etc.
Yeah, any list without Blue Monday should be discarded!

OK. I can tell you it doesn't have Temptation & Ceremony, though.
OK, I've finally done it. Alway an impossible task, but at least a top 20 means I don't have to leave off as many great songs.
Bizarre Love Triangle- Great dance beat, cryptic yet cool lyrics & title
Regret- Combines all the best elements of New Order-synth, guitars, drums, esoteric lyrics. Wistful yet uplifting and hopeful
The Perfect Kiss-Great beat & lyrics
Dream Attack- Beatutiful song, especially guitars
Blue Monday- Great dance beat, helped popularize drum machines, very memorable bass riff by Hooky. Important song even though not as popular among NOOLers.
Fine Time- Great dance beat. "I never met a girl with all her own teeth."
Confusion- Great dance beat
Love Less- Beautiful, sad song. Both lyrically & musically.
Guilty Partner- Great lyrics (I always know what it takes to make you my lover), great guitars
Shellshock- Great dance beat
Here to Stay-Wonderfully uplifting & happy
Run-Beautiful song, especially guitars, with a nice assist from drums
All the Way-Uplifting lyrics, guitars
World-Great beat, good lyrics
True Faith- Great beat especialy drums
Vanishing Point- Great synth sounds, cool lyrics
Ruined in a Day- Nice sombre beat, good lyrics
Round & Round- great dance beat, cool lyrics
Temptation- Upbeat, good lyrics (Oh, you've got green eyes...) Another song that blends all of the elements of New Order rather well
Leave Me Alone- Beautiful guitars, nice lyrics
Let's Go-I love the lyrics, great guitars
Subculture- great beat, nice esoteric lyrics
Paradise- Plaintive, yearning sound
Ceremony- Guitar (esp. opening) & drums
Guilt is a Usless Emotion-Great dance beat

Smells Like Teen Spirit-really great dance beat; I'm so glad they ditched Hannett and got Butch Vig to produce.
2.Regret......Tim/oldmonkey said it best, all the top NO bits in one song.
3.Everything's Gone Green.....caught my ear with the sequencers. I love the sound of Barney's vocals for the enigmatic lyrics. Part of the soundtrack on my way for my first NO gig as well.
4Age Of Consent.......another track that caught me a bit by surprise, I heard it on the radio without knowing that PC&L was about to be released and thought.....New New Order?.........YESSSSS!!!!!!
5.TemptationMy friends and I badgered the local college DJ's to play that song every day until we got our own copies.....well, the badgering didn't end at that point, truth be told.
6.Your Silent Face.......just absolutely gorgeous.
7Waiting For The Sirens' Call.........same ingredients as for Regret
8As It Is When It Was....lyrics and the melody. A nice one to reminisce to
9Perfect Kiss.....the build up to the mash up at the end.
10Hurt......for some of the same reasons as EGG
11Truth......entrancing rhythm, melodica, and lyrics.
12Lonesome Tonight..........accidentally played this b-side first before TLU............it was at least a week before I got to the a-side.
13Sunrise.........because it rocks, quite simply.
14Run...maybe not the best lyrics for me, but damn, the music is something else

oo0o another Tops List. This is the current approximate Desert Island Top 20. Earlier songs are once the sing Deep like Ian has been thoroughly shaken out. Can't really say any whys and some make me feel like a Window licker because I am too young and wasn't there. But no matter. And some are too close in position to choose.

Hi Burt In A Lonely Place was performed at Ally Pally in 1998 as it was on the extra's on either the 3:16 Reading Festival '98/New York '81 or 5:11 Finsbury Park 5th June 2002 DVD's. It was only a 15 sec snippet but from what I saw it looked like a good performance of it.
