pointless survey

The one thing I noticed about Get Ready is that most of the tracks have lyrics with the actual title on them...kinda un-New Orderish...Anyways I looked through their lyrics and here's a listing of how many in each album actually had lyrics with the titles in them

Get Ready has 7/10 Crystal, 60 mph, Turn My Way, Vicious Streak, Primitive Notion, Rock the Shack, Someone Like You

I might have missed some, but you can see what I mean. Get Ready is definitely a good album but I kinda wished they used different titles for some tracks...Someone Like You is such a common title for a great track.

Yeah, this is kinda pointless but I really thought songs like Bizzare Love Triangle, Love Vigilantes, and Dream Attack have such great song titles...no mention in the lyrics but you kinda get the feel of it.

If you had to change some of the song titles mentioned above, what would it be?

I noticed that too; I think it's part of the general effort to promote themselves more. I assume the feeling was that using song titles that aren't in the lyrics was too non-commercial.

I don't know if commercial is the only reason. I have a band, something like New Order with french lyrics (although we have one in English wich I call our New Order song, very Temptation-ish), and in the beginning, the song titles were almost never in the lyrics. And now, the titles come more and more from the lyrics. It's difficult to find a good and relevant song title.

Geoffroy, they used to seem to make a very strenuous effort to avoid using song titles that were in the lyrics; that was one of their noticeable characteristics, and on GR that's been totally reversed.

Let's face the facts here - New Order (despite how much I love them) have become progressively more and more commercial, and the labelling of songs is just one more nail in the coffin. As they've been independant, and they were successful at that, why not go more commercial? - they'll rightly be thinking, hmmm, not many years left and Factory nicked me money - lets earn something now... and why not?

I'm not blaming them at all; everybody needs money, and they used to be almost painfully pure.

he must get them free by now. that should help him save some cash.
