Just curious as to who else is going to make the trip across the pond to see our heroes in June? I figure it's a good excuse to see the mother country, esp. since it doesn't seem they'll be here anytime soon....

I'm going! Traveling from FTL/Miami!!!

I'm seriously debating the trip. I would have to make it to Barcelona for the Sonar Festival as well to make it worth my time. It's very tempting.

I shall be there...heading up the Texas contingency of ONE!

Perhaps it makes sense for all of to set up some type of "group communication"? I'm actually taking my son with me as a graduation gift!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I have no idea where this place is, so if someone knows of a good spot to meet, I'm in....

:shy:

...uh, wish i could. REALLY wish i could. i don't suppose anyone would like to smuggle me in their luggage? i promise i'd behave... :D

I've got a rather large duffle bag, I might be able to stuff you in it...but it might get rather uncomfortable...

You must stop posting to this thread, or I fear I shall break down in tears.

I went last summer (before "Get Ready" even) and planned to return this summer.

Then I bought a house and spent every cent I'll ever earn and more.

Then the Order announce live dates in the U.K. (but not here).

Then my boss forwards me an e-mail from cheaptickets.com: "Cleveland to London from $322 round-trip and more!"

You're all too cruel.

Stop it.

Sniff.

 oh, Gnu, i am SO in your boat. can't afford to do much at all; am on my second house (which is kinda sick, seeing how young i am), and it costs about twice as much at the first one! if it hadn't been for the dratted evil children where we used to live, i'd be paying a mortgage only half as bad as the one i've got now.

Grigori...well, i knew i'd have to make certain sacrifices. i'm small, machine-washable, and drip-dry! though i don't know how well i could really pass for a hefty article of your clothing...

*ponders* 'tis an idea, though.

if you had only seen my suitcase for my trip to San Francisco to see the order last year, you would have no doubt as to your ability to pass as a parcel of my luggage...

and as a matter of fact...my flights to London connect in Chicago...sooooooo!!!!!

oh wait, are you allowed to check luggage at the second leg of your trip?

Welcome aboard the RMS Titanic, mum. Should be a lovely trip if nothing goes wrong.

I've got ten years on you, but I'm also on House 2: The Second Story, which coincidentally cost twice what the first one did (in cash, I mean...not sure about sanity yet). I won't see London or NO this year, but at least I'll stay dry if it rains.

P.S. At least real estate around Chicago isn't very expensive, is it? ;)

P.P.S. Don't tease us in your profile about your love of your :guitar: without giving us any audio links.

That P.P.S. goes for you too, Mr. Laughing Martian.

Grigori: hrrm, with all the current new security measures...i have absolutely no idea. nor do i have any idea how well i could costume myself as "duty-free," if such a thing became necessary. i don't impersonate giant bottles of liquor well, unfortunately... ;)

Gnu: heh, was there a particular reason you chose to move, then? :D and are you stuck with this mortgage on your own? i s'pose i shouldn't complain on two counts: one, i've got someone stuck in it with me (who's wunnerful, so it's v. good), and two...DEFINITE savings in sanity, even if it does crunch more than i'd like on my pocketbook. :\ohwell:

as for my :guitar: teasing, that's mostly cos there *are* no recordings available (publicly) of my playing. nor should there be at this point, as i don't play as much as i'd like anymore and never had got to be good enough that i was proud of anything i'd done. that and the fact that i'm currently busy being :singer: and playing keyboards (why no smilie for this on an *NO* board, of all places? ) in my current project. which is a completely unserious project, meant only for fun...

...and which, alas, also has no audio files publicly available...yet. we may soon. i've been getting bugged about this by many of my friends, actually. but we do have a page up...*squeaks*

(feels weird going on about this here, but you asked. i'm not very big on self-promotion, though. i get yelled at about that a lot, actually. :o )

Sell yer pets, sell yer house - and if you have to - sell yer bodies - you've gotta come over and have a beer or 2 with the British Orderettes;) It'll be worth it (I hope:evil4: )

Keep it comin:jump:

I can see it now...you and me, drunk and passed out at the tube station, whiest the rest of the faithful are at Finsbree....what tales we will have to tell our proginy!!!!

y'know, friends and i keep joking about how we really ought to consider hooking as a profession. and what better reason could one possibly have than the goal of heading to Finsbury Park for this grand event?

(mind you, i did say "hooking." not "hookying." which would be a different matter entirely. )

got my new passport in the mail on Saturday...and from the looks of the pic, I'll be awful damn lucky to even be allowed to set foot on the airplane...

I look like a crazed lunatic...so maybe I'll be there, maybe not...depends on how vigilant they are at the airport.

Hope to see all of you there...

oh...and when is everyone flying? I leave on the 5th of June...and return on the 12th...

Hey everyone-

Let's set up some type of "formal" communication? My e-mail and user name on MSN is BostonGirlinFL@hotmail.com

I'm in a bit of a crunch getting over there, should arrive one day before the show as I have a Peter Murphy concert to see here one day prior, but I'm planning on at least 7 days there, if not more!

Ironic that you're a "Boston Girl in FL", as I'm a Boston guy in Atlanta, who's actually in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area this week on business....Anyway, still need to get the passport and airline tix, but hey, at least I have the concert tix!

Hey Joe-

That's too funny---how long are you here for? I don't have my plane tix yet, but I *do* have my passport---"Have Passport, Will Travel". Always!

and Joe...seeing as how they say to allow 6 weeks for your passport to arrive, don't you think you might ought to shift this one into overdrive?

Yeah Joe, especially in this, um...kinda weird political climate! Seems they're taking a while onger...background checks and stuff. Get moving!!!!

Since I am unable to go, don't you think the most thoughtful and sensitive thing would be for everyone, including New Order, to stay home and call off the whole thing?

;)

Tell you what Gnu, at 11.30am on the morning of Finsbury Parl we will hold a 2 minute silence for all our fellow NOO'ers who cannot make it

now i'd appreciate that one...

Hmmm...perhaps a new thread should be set up called "I Am From The US And NOT Going To Finsbury Park". Beg, borrow, steal, sell your grandmother! Just go! I don't even have plane tickets yet but I'll paddle over on a raft if I have to!

That's a very comforting thought and much appreciated. The only way I can think of to improve on this idea is to work in the consumption of beer somehow.

Howzabout rather than two minutes of silence, two minutes of loud gulping? The Queen Mum would have wanted it that way, I'm certain.

Yes, I'm from San Francisco and I'll be there for New Order (my very first show yea!!). Anyone know if there will be an afterparty? ;)

After-party? WE are the after-party! If there isn't one then we'll just have to make our own!

Allen-I draw the line somewhere, no matter how vague it may be at times. I'll pass on the alcohol poisoining, but in the case I don't, I suppose you can always tend to me, being a local and all?

I hear you can get your passport expedited, so I'm sure I'll have it in enough time. I'm in FL thru Sunday, maybe I'll try to get my passport processed here, or maybe not a good idea....In any event, you can bet your NO collection that I will be "singing in England" (to paraphrase "WIM") on June 9....

Since Julio, me and two friends are going to London to the gig and there are a lot of US citizens going too, I sugest we meet in some PUB before and after that (If it's still open!). To British citizens: Are the Pubs still closing 23:00h?

I thought Jarvo said the after gig party was at his place!!!! Or we can see how many Americans you can cram into a single room at my hotel...or we could just take over a tube station for the night...

anybody got any suggestions???

If everyone is up to it, I can try to book a "group rate" for the hotel! Or, to save money for the "beer fund", we *could* all try to cram into one room. Hey wait, I think I'm the only female going. Ah, never mind, could be fun! haha!

:evil2:

Don't worry Angela, you're not the only female going hehe ;)

I do actually live perilously close to Finsbury Park..

... but, thankfully, Paul Mickey Disco Carbury lives even CLOSER ;)

Thanks Vertigen, I feel better now!

I'm actually looking into renting a flat for the time I'm there---anyone interested?!?

If anyone in the US is still looking for airfare, try this:

http://www.airlineticketssite.com

It took a few hours to get the quote but I got a roundtrip from Miami for $510.00 USD on Air Canada---not bad considering every other major website (including Orbitz and all those) were all over $670.00. Good luck and get mooooving!
