New order's future?

Always believe day's music charts don't deserve such beauty like 'get ready'. NME suggested they are still one of the best bands 'we have got today'. But the question is with all the excellent side projects(Electronic is the best example), will New Order get confused by the over production and London Records' marketing strategies?

Confused in what way?The direction that they go in? Don't you think they should deserve good / great production and better marketing now? N.O. aren't getting any younger and now,maybe,being with London behind them,this brilliant new record will hopefully give them the rewards they should have had a long time ago. They still have their freedom and independance to a certain degree.That's what has always made them special.I don't think London would wish to interfere too much.As with all bands,big or small,credible or otherwise,London will want to make a good return on N.O. Just be thankful they didn't sign to Sony.

Sort of on the topic of the whole marketing thing I was thinking about this the other day. I kind of enjoyed the whole mystery of the artwork and having to hunt the fuckers down. I remember seeing that building on the Oxford road plastered in Technique posters and until its release being completely in the dark as to what they were. I remember it covered in posters for Bummed too. Everyones known about the artwork for Get Ready for ages and its kind of disappointing. Dont particularly like the Get Ready artwork either, discuss.

About the artwork, I remember I didn't know at all what "Technique" would look like when I went to the shop to buy it. When I saw the record, I immediately thought it would be New Order... And I was right. Not too crazy about the new artwork though

I actually liked the Republic art; the new stuff is OK. I didn't care for the Technique art.

Didnt they always put bloody great New Order stickers on stuff like Brotherhood an Power Corruption and Lies abroad? Thus removing any chance of smug elitism that everyone craves when theyre 15.

I've got a Brotherhood Vinyl Album special edition metallic version and the fucking HMV put one of them shitty £7.99 circular stickers on the front. When I pulled it off it pulled like a crescent moon shape off the metallic ink - mind you, it looks pretty good. Whenever I show anyone this special artefact they go that's a nice cover, I like the moon on it.

'get ready' art work looks like a clear message from the band. They don't think the aging process has damaged their spirits. By the way, is London Records owned by any major lables?

I remember going into W.H.Smith to buy Power,Corruption and Lies on vinyl.The poor girl serving me didn't have a clue as to who it was by.I recall sending for refreshments as the hours passed while I waited for said record to be found .

Funny you mention that.I got one of those crescent shapes as well.I also bought it on tape in one of those white Factory boxes. When I worked in VMH those bloody stickers got everywhere.Take your skin off if left on long enough!!
