I also thought it sounded like him. I checked the credits on the CD and his name's not in, so I guess it's someone else playing. Cheers, P

Some parts sound like NO as anyone one heard of Paul Haig NO did the music for one of his singles called The only Truth NO fans should try and download it its a great song.

Aye it does sound like Hooky but there was a thread asking the same question a couple of months back.Aparrentley its the producer ,Trevor Horn.

It's Trevor Horn who plays bass on that song, but it does sound like Hooky's style of bass playing. Maybe they wanted the song to sound New Order-ish or something.

They said something along the lines of that in their song "Shopping", that the keyboard part that sounds like a bass guitar is an homage to Hooky. I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what they said regarding that particular song. Also, on a Japanese New Order and PSB website, the owner of the site says that she read in a magazine interview (I don't know what magazine; it could be a Japanese magazine) that PSB particularly wanted "Minimal" to sound New Order-esque, hence, the Hooky-styled bassline at the end.

As a bit of an aside to all this I remember reading a book called Pet Shop Boys Versus America where Chris Lowe tells one of the roadies to have the strap on his slingon keyboard adjusted so he could play it down low just like Hooky....taking the piss or a backhanded compliment, you be the judge....
