i don't know if this has been mentioned before, but...

i was in starfucks yesterday buying a chai tea latte, and next to the till was a compilation for sale of punk/post-punk tunes. it wasn't half bad, actually (elvis costello, the stranglers, echo & the bunnymen, etc.), but being starfucks they wanted something like $250 for it. anyway, the first song on the CD was age of consent. i expected true faith or blue monday, but not age of consent i tell you!

yeah, I saw this one today too, meeting some friends at one for coffee/tea. Think they named the comp. "overtime working" or "working overtime" or something.. and I saw New Order as one of the bands. Thought the track would've been appropriately "working overtime" but "age of consent". I don't like Starbucks much but am glad that NO got the leading track off the CD. The kids these days might think it sounds Bloc Party-ish.

senses working overtime--that's it. the XTC song was on the comp, hence the name.

Any comp with a young Robert Smith on the cover can't be bad, right?

Right? Anyone?

Sounds like a surprisingly good compilation, though I probably have al the songs on one CD or another so I'll save myself $250 by not stopping by Starbucks.

Can't believe it took you nearly three years to come up with that! Hope your other two posts were equally insightful!

Not a bad tracklisting, nice to see Oh Yeah by Roxy Music and Mirror In The Bathroom by The Beat on there, but they could've picked a better song from Robyn Hitchcock or Bauhaus.

Can't say I'll buy the thing, I never go to Starbucks anyway, but I may start soon, if only to buy the chocolate chip cookies they sell, one of our vendors gave me a case of those things awhile back, and they're almost gone.

Their desserts always look great but they've never seemed to taste quite as good as they looked, on the few times I've gone in there and bought something. Too much anticipation, maybe?

Not yet ready to go in to check in on their dessert selection or prices, so I can't say for sure on that point. All I know is that they seem to be as well-received as any good home-baked cookie is.

Japan's got Starbucks too, but I can find more posh cafes in Japan that can make better tea and coffee than Starbucks.

How good are Big Mac's these days? Do they go down better with Bud or Silver Bullets?
