OK Paul, I'll piss you off.....it was my first day at University, and I bunked off mid-afternoon to travel down to London. I thought it was a crap gig, as the set was the "other songs" - they seemed to be alternating more than ever that week. Birmingham on the Thursday had been a really special night, and Malvern the next night was 11 different songs from the night before, and just surreal. The T&C on the Saturday was half the Brum set plus six different songs (that's 30 different songs in 3 nights), yet the Albert Hall was half of Malvern plus greatest hits. Plus I was worrying about getting back and up in time for my Roman History lecture at 9am the next day (didn't make it :) )
Bizarre. I too missed the Royal Albert Hall gig, despite having a ticket, and it was also my first day at Uni too, which is the reason I missed it. Went to Freshers week the previous week then went back to Luton for the T&C gig on the Saturday, but couldn't be arsed with the RAH gig so gave me ticket away (for nothing!) to a mate called John who I've not even seen since about 1989. Seem to remember though that they'd come on dead late (gone 11?) at the T&C cos we missed the last train home and caught a milk train, and that me mates went to the RAH late as a result on the Monday, where they'd then come on EARLY and they missed the first 2 or 3 songs. . ..
Thanks to ZZ for making aware of something that I really regret missing now: the 87 Berkeley show at the Greek. Lovely venue in an interesting city and an encore of Anarchy. I have no explanation for missing this, as I had easily made the Oakland 85 gig with no problem.

I DID B-HAM AND MALVERN BOTH GREAT GIGS....THE MALVERN VENUE WAS LIKE AN OLD VILLAGE HALL....WHAT I PERHAPS MEANT ABOUT ALBERT HALL GIG WAS NOT SO MUCH THE QUALITY OF THE SET LISTING BUT THE UNIQUE VENUE....I REMEMBER READING THAT THE STANDING AREA GOT SO PACKED AND HOT THAT THE CROWD WERE HOSED DOWN...FACT OR FICTION.....YES LONDON TACC WAS VERY LATE BUT I HAD DIGS WITH MY PAL....BUT YOU TRY GETTING BACK FROM MALVERN TO ANYWHERE ON THE TRAIN PASSED ABOUT 7.30 AT NIGHT...ANOTHER NIGHT SPENT IN A WAITING ROOM COURTESY OF BR.... i did b-ham and
Hey I went to b'ham and Malvern too (got some good photo's too, the Malvern gig from what i remember was pretty wild. Met the happy Mondays and spent the afternon with them at brum and they got my t-shirt signed by Barney and actually gave me it the following night at malvern. Remember the malvern gig being in a sleepy markey town and chilling on the lawn outside the hall supping beer and scrumpy, then kipping in the car on the night, ah those were the days,
Bez covered in spit that was a sight, and hooky doing his 5 minute solo set at the end.
I went to the RAH gig. We originally had tickets up in the gods but managed to sneak down into the orchestra pit without much trouble.
I remember buying a 'Here are the young men' poster pre-gig which got completely crushed during 5-8-6.
Ended up sleeping the night out at Paddington Station (again!) and catching a train back to the midlands at about 5am.

Malvern was ten miles from home, so was able to get a lift there and back. Didn't have a drop that night, as I couldn't be arsed to queue. Very glad that the crowd was so much bigger than the Joy Div set 6 years earlier, even though it hadn't really been publicised. Great atmosphere there - loads of Worcester boys who wouldn't normally cross the road to see a band were there. It was like Hooky was enjoying himself so much he didn't want it to end - playing the bass line of Sister Ray as he walked off stage still after everyone else had gone. Definitely one of my all-time favourites. I'm gonna put the tape on right now :)
Ever wondered why he didn't make it up to Manchester that other weekend Collette? That's because he didn't want to reveal the shocking truth about his proper age!!
Timbo possesses such an encyclopedic knowledge of music and bands that it's time the truth were revealed: he's not 35 at all, he's actually 56!!! That's right! Almost as old as Lou Reed himself!!!

Not quite - two days stubble though, which looks a bit grey in this webcam. As for the blue hair.....
No blue hair this time but still handlebar moustache! (I don't think I can spell that word by the way, however I spell it it always looks wrong!) 
Collette, you can always download his pic and doctor it yerself - putting a handlebar muzzy and proper mullet on it then upload it back onto the forum for everyone to ogle, know what I mean? ;)
