ive just picked up the cd from music zone in manchester it has 2discs and there is JD, ACR,OMD and teardrop explodes on it.
i only really listen to the JD and OMD songs
im just wondering what you people out there think of this cd if you own it or even if you where there what was it like please?

the sound qualtiy is rather poor but disorder sounds brilliant and it has the best version of colony you can actually hear Hooky's bass and bloody hell it fooking mint!
but towards the end you cant even hear the drums in transmission which is a shame
but Ian's singing is pretty much on top form for the whole show as for ACR thats just noise
and OMD i think sound really good and ive not got to the teardrop explodes yet
I have an audience version + 2 edited soundboard versions of this, but was advised to stay away from this 'official' release as the sound is just as bad as the sources I already have.
The audience tape is almost unlistenable, and Transmission isn't included on either of the soundboard tapes, however you can hear the drums on the audience tape, they are very 'muffled' though. I know what you mean about Colony it's a cracking version, also when I first listened to it on a tape I bought years ago I picked up a distinct Iggy Pop feel to the vocals, maybe it's cos of the reverb / sound on the mic. The gig is quite manic all the way through, Disorder is fast and furious, a fucking great version, Leaders of Men is neither here nor there, pleasant enough. Insight seems a bit untidy in places and the sound effects pierce yer ears but it comes together in the end. Digital is as intense as it gets and Barney's guitar is really prominent. Dead Souls is another which suffers, maybe somewhat due to the actual quality of the recording, but again this sounds very untidy. SDhadowplay gets the show back on track with Hooky, Steve and Barney banging everything into it, after the shaky Dead Souls Ian nails the vocals on this. I love the version of She's Lost Control as well, loadsa energy. Transmission and Interzone are only available on the audience tape I have and as I mention above the sound is very low, which is a shame cos both sound pretty good. My memory is a bit pish when it comes to remembering discussions, so I am not sure if the band actually played the whole of The Sound Of Music or whether it was aborted, if the whole song was played it's an absolute fucker that the full version is not available!

Does it now! Nobody has this full audience version. There are two recordings doing the rounds, one with 23 seconds of Sound of Music, one with 40 seconds. None have the full version. It was a victim of tape flip.

There was a version of the Leigh gig at Dime uploaded by ArthurAx earlier this year that had 1 minute and 40 seconds of Sound Of Music, it starts with the soundboard recording and after 23 seconds fades into the audience one. I think that's the one MrGreen is talking about, although it still isn't complete.
Looks like that torrent is dead, but I uploaded the file here so those who missed it can check it out themselves.
Yup, that was the one I was talking about. I of course forgot that the song is still incomplete in this version. :o

Just goes to show that someone out there may have the full version. I wish this would surface
