Here to stay song & video

I have been away from here for quite a while, so I haven't been able to follow the discussions, but I just want to hear what you think of Here To Stay?

I think it's fabulous! The production is super... and I really like the video too, even if it's kind of strange to see someone who's acting Bernard walking around miming to bernard's voice..

I agree on both.

I think it's a great song - almost classic New Order (it's certainly got all the right ingredients). Haven't really seen that much of the video yet, but then again I've never really taken a lot of notice of videos to be honest.

I hate the video, whatever happened to the groundbreaking sophisticated or just weird videos of the past? The Repuplic era videos for Regret and World were at least stylish, seemed to have run out of steem by Ruined though, what a pile of cack that one was. Now it seems absolutely no thought whatsoever goes into them except for an assurance that they don't have to be in them. Here to Stay and 1963 have to be about the worst lets just film some actors with a stupid scenario and not even think about the image of the band.

Is it the 60mph video with the bear costume thing? I like that one but it would have been more amusing to have Barney in the bear suit with Hooky as the park ranger or something.

HTS sounded so very good in the cinema I thought.

I think the video is okay, considering it's probably supposed to be promotion for the film. I think it's a kind of odd thing to have the actor who plays bernard in the film play him in the video too. Although, I miss the other members of New Order in the video, I mean all we get to see is someone playing an instrument from a distance. And there's too much of "bernard" "tony" and "ian", for being a New Order video. But then again, it is promotion for the film.

All the young kids who only know New Order from the Crystal video clip and now Here to Stay probably think that New Order are some 20 something band ....

I have to agree about the Ruined in a Day clip ... I mean, it was good that NO were actually in the clip, but .......

I wish it had sounded half decent at the Cinema I went to in Coventry. I mean it was bad enough that they didn't show it in my home town, but the sound of the film was so shite it would have sounded better on a 1940's transistor radio. Very tinny !

Will have to buy a decent sound system ready for the DVD instead $$$.

Another thing, I have not yet seen HTS on MTV or other music channels and I watch them quite regularly. It seems that they have taken the same stance as Radio crapbag 1. ('MTV2 Rocks' oh perlease - that channel's gone down hill since that program has taken up 50% of screen time).

My God I'm whinging today! ;) The only place I hear it regularly is XFM.

I had to go to Birmingham to see it at Star City and the sound was chuffing tremendous. I was happily singing along to most of the music and noone noticed - oh that'd be because the cinema was empty :D

Next time I'll have to pile on a further 10 miles up the M6 for decent sound then, and the chance to Karaoke-Movie stylee

Great song! But i think the "Radio edit" sounds a bit butchered. The "Full length Vocal" is much better, i like the instrumental guitar bits at the end of the song.

The video? I like it, the BernardSumner actor (what's his name again?) does a great job. I've seen much poorer videos to "songs from a movie".

that's just plain ignorance. i mean, i'm sure that 80s retro weekends that radio stations do (or at least in my part of the world they do), the kids can identify new order (if they don't get them mixed up with depeche mode...like i did many moons ago...)

whose idea was it anyways to have another imitation new order? i bet the guys in the band were pretty happy with it.

I have been buried in school work and there hasn't been much news happening with New Order, so I guess I got bored or something. After the concert, I just wasn't as enthusiastic as I've been before (maybe I had already accomplished all I needed to )... but now, with the new single and everything (they are coming to hultsfred, I can't believe it!!) I'm just as enthusiastic as before... :)

I don't think I was being ignorant .. How was I ?. I think most teens and early 20 somethings have barely heard of New Order, or they just know the name but couldn't name a song let alone know what they look like. Maybe they'd be more well known among the younger people in the UK ... But !!

Considering they pissed off for the best part of 8 years it wouldn't be suprising that the yoof of today may not know who they are. Think the whole Crystal video was an attempt at demonstrating that the song was so relevant it could have been a young band making the single, not a bunch of fat old men.

I like that idea Seb .. Because the song doesn't sound like its being played by a bunch of fat, old, past it has beens ..
