Hyde 'Centre of Evil' comments condemned
"Comments made by music mogul, Anthony H. Wilson, and cartoonist, Tony Husband, that referred to Hyde as the ‘Centre of Evil’ have been condemned by Hyde Conservatives and residents.
"Wilson - Ex-Factory Records boss, and co-founder of the Hacienda nightclub – was interviewing Husband for his show on Radio Manchester, when Wilson made light of Husband’s Hyde background. Referring to the Moors Murderers - Ian Brady and Myra Hindley - and killer GP, Harold Shipman, Wilson asked, “Is that why you are a cartoonist because you come from ‘death capital of the world’?” Husband replied, “The Sun called Hyde the ‘centre of evil’.”
"Further comment was then made about the town’s notorious killers.
"However, the interview received a backlash from residents and politicians alike..."http://www.tamesidetories.com/news_detail.php?nid=303
