Well, if your record industry will clutter itself up with AFL anthems instead of real records !!

yeah what a joke eh? i mean you would have to have serious issues to buy the anthem of your team on CD for $15.

I can belt you out the mighty Hawthorn anthem for a fiver and you can burn it to a CD if you like Mitcho..

We discussed the delayed Aus release in the 'Aussie Shock Announcement' thread, BTW.

I would have thought you might have forgotten the words, as you haven't had cause to sing it for quite a while.... "Oh, when the Saints! Go marching in!", now there's a real anthem pal Md

Rumour has it that NO are heading back into the studio in September ... Do the rest of the Aussies in here think that they'll come back to OZ and tour in support of this future release ? I know its a long way off ... But ???

Brendan - a bit early for that sort of conjecture, but it would be nice to think that would be the case. From all accounts, they did enjoy themselves here, so if they can keep it together for long enough, who knows? Md

It is early ... I was just curious about what other people thought because they took so long to return here ... So maybe they'll give Australia a miss next time round since they toured here for Get Ready ... Only time will tell I guess ... And theres alot of time ...

Or maybe they feel bad neglecting us for 15 years so they will spend the entire of 2004 here :)

Morning Sun, my gut reaction to this would be that no- they won't tour here in 2002/3.

And my gut reaction to ManPoodle's Saints' jibe is that he'd better watch his snout because he'll be lucky if his footy club still exists by the time NewOrder get back here.

"We're the miiiighty fiiiighting Haaaaawks.."

Gut reaction? Since when have Hawthorn had any guts? Glad you know the words, though - you sound like you've been practicing, good lad. Just like to point out here that by jibing the Hawks in no implies that I think the Saints are any better - quite the opposite, we are in the same creek with similar vessels, so to speak. We may even end up merging - you guys seem to like that idea. In fact Hawthorn have managed to enter into talks on merging with everything EXCEPT a decent team of footy players. I'd also like to point out that arguing over who has the better footy club is childish, petty and puerile. You can't win an argument based on opinions - but I can.

ManDaschound, quit your yapping.

This is the only way you'll ever get a sniff of a flag so you'd better start praying we throw you a lifeline.

Fair enough, I'll start praying when Hawthorn starts winning

Play nicely you two, or I'll take your ball away....:nono:

Auld Bleu you said that with such authority that I wondered: do you have any sprogs? Are any of them named after members of NewOrder or prominent figures in the history of the band? A young Tony Blue or Quincy Blue perhaps?

ManSchnouzer, put your spoondoolicks where your laughing gear is. Care to indulge in a little wager over who'll win more games this year? Heck, you've even got a four point head start. Say, a slice of NewOrder vinyl of choice?

What is this, Aussie Rules ? The only good game you've invented apart from cricket ;)

Actually Z-man I think we also graced the world with Cow Pat Lotto.

A game very popular amongst the St.Kilda supporters of this world. Like the ManPoodle.

Many a verbal joust has been waged over the merits of "Aussie Rules", even on this forum. To the untrained eye it may look like "thuggery with a ball", but you'll have to trust me when I say it's actually quite an ace game. And I also love football (the 'soccer' variety).

Yeah, I'm a Dad...My lad is called Matthew (Bernard just didn't suit him!), and we've got a little girl due in the next couple of weeks.

We're going to call her Crystal.

Or maybe not!

I think Aussie Rules is a tremendous game - wish you could play it over here (or at least did - too old and fat now). Who's the team in black with a red diagonal stripe ?

You speaketh of the antichrist, Z-man.

That'd be Essendon, the Bombers. The self-described "Man Utd of Aussie Rules".

I'm quite chuffed to hear of your interest, however.

Good call. Could keep it topical and go for Kylie?

The really sad thing is that my Mrs GENUINELY wants to call her Roberta Zamora Williams....which is going a little too far I feel.

Didn't say I liked 'em !! Thought they were a bunch of right sreknaw :) Who's the predominantly Green team ? I'm gonna look at an Aussie Rules website and find out a bit more I think...

How about Zamora Roberta Williams ? There won't be many kids called Zamora in her class in years to come, and Roberta is just a little too close to Robbie Williams (we wouldn't want people confusing your devotion now, would we?).

You're going to have a tacker called Robbie Williams? Yikes. Haven't you corrected the Mrs's listening habits with your massive NO back catalogue?

Could be worse. I know a young Chinese kid called Wang Chung. Child of the eighties.

Bleeding 'eck Tim, you've just made me realise!!

All this time I thought she meant that we could shorten Roberta to "Bobbie", when what she really wants is for the fruit of my loins to be named after her favourite contemporary pop star!!!!!

Anybody know a good divorce lawyer!

While Old Bloo's marriage goes down the gurgler, can I recommend this site to you Z-man:

www.afl.com.au

It's a good starting point for interest in Aussie Rules. As for AFL teams wearing green, you're only looking at the Fremantle Dockers- something of a novelty team. A bit like following Southampton, perhaps.

Nice one :)

Looked at the St.Kilda page - what the fook is this injury ?

St Kilda’s injury problems have softened slightly with the news that ruckman Matthew Capuano is a chance to resume in the seniors this week. After skipper Robert Harvey (calf) and Fraser Gehrig (osteitis pubis) were yesterday ruled out, the Saints needed some positive news on the injury front after the pre-season injury to number one ruckman Peter Everitt.

Also been looking at the rules page......

WTF ? Are you guys taking the piss, or just moderating where others can ?

22.7 HYGIENEEach club or Team shall ensure that:- (a) Players do not urinate (other than in a toilet) in or about any dressing rooms or on the Playing Surface prior to, during or immediately following the completion of any Match; and (b) each of its Players observe a high standard of personal hygiene.

Take note of that ladder - you may not see it with St. Kilda in the top 8 again this year. I will not enter any such wager with you on the fate of our respective teams, Master Charge, however I will buy you several pints for your wise comments on Essendon should you ever decide to haul arse across the Nullabor some time before the sun goes supernova. Actually Aussie Rules is a fab game not dissimilar to Gaelic Football. Where I grew up you either played it or learnt macrame (or if you supported the Swans, you did both) Md

You're really quite an industrious little cobber, Z-man.

After you've perused the afl site, I'll be keen to hear which team you select and why! And I'm sure ErnieDingo will be intrigued also.

Where the hell did you grow up anyway Md, Broadmeadows?

I have to say Depthy, that I've been laughing my arse off all afternoon at your suggestion that Southampton are a novelty team. And as for Wang Chung.....that's just too funny!

Anyway, do you think we should let Mitch have his thread back? We have sort of hijacked it a bit....

(Adopts Dr Evil-esque voice) My childhood is of little consequence....

Actually I grew up in a small town in north west Victoria in the Mallee area (about 800 people in the whole town). Needless to say we were the only family to have any recordings of JD/NO in our house. In fact, I think we may have been the only family in the town to have electricity and genetic diversity in our house. Md
