As I said above - it was a bit obvious. I challenged "James Walsh" and "Karen James" on another thread, which prompted the tirade of abuse. Can't understand what people aim to achieve by sabotaging a forum. One way round it for the future may be to publish the IP address of the user underneath their name on the forum - if this IP has now been banned though, it will only be a matter of time before they resurface with another IP - not many companies do static addresses (I'm lucky, as my work access is static).

Displaying the IP address can help, but by the same token it's not hard to "hide" behind a proxy server...

The sad fact is that whatever, there will always be the James Walshes of the world that make it their mission to eff things up.

I think when the knobhead returns in it's new guise it'll be pretty obvious now anyway. I'm sure the cretin will get bored of doing it eventually.

Try to remember fettlers that some people should be pitied rather than scorned. In this case a little compassion towards this person would go a long way too. God forbid any of you should find yourselves in a position where you have the deeply disturbing feelings of lonliness and inadequacy so obviously in this case the driving force behind these multiple personalities. The fact is that lonely people behave in apparently stupid ways to gain a little attention and it is all too easy to close ranks, gang up on that person and dismiss them as a crackpot. The hard thing is to reach out and try to understand and help that person through their problems. Also, remembering one thing would do none of us any harm....................

I'm with Muffy on this one. I was also a bit shocked at the reaction the "James Walsh" character got when he posted about his alcoholism. At that point nobody knew about the multiple personalities and there was nothing but wisecracks from many of the regular posters. As Muffy said a bit of compassion doesn't go amiss sometimes.

In saying that, it's not too easy to show compassion to someone whose typing abuse about you is it? Theres been a couple of occassions when genuine members have asked advice etc on here and had nothing but support from other posters. I didnt ever see the Alcoholism post, but if he had wanted support theres better ways to go about it than abusing everyone on the board.

You do have a point there Seb, I only read the "F*** OFF YOU UGLY C***" jibe he made at you on an old thread two minutes ago. I don't know how compassionate I would be feeling after that. I dunno though I just feel a bit sorry for anyone who goes to those sorts of lengths. I hope the guy/girl sorts themselves out that's all.

I think that was partly because no-one beleived a word he typed, he may have problems or he may just be a cunt. How are we ever gonna find out? It's not like he engages with people on a level that would make this in any way likely.

But youre right, it is a bit sad, and I'd hope if in the unlikely event Mr Walsh was to reincarnate and apologise, we'd happily overlook past events. (S)He is obvioulsy an 'Order fan after all!

Your point is a valid one Snake but i'm talking specifically about the reactions in this thread now that it is known that this individual has been posting under multiple names. Some people here seem a bit eager to point out how clever they are rather than taking a step back and realising that this is just a sad person seeking attention. Pure badness is a rare thing, it's unlikely this person is just being a c**t for the sake of it. It is much more likely that they just need someone to listen to what they have to say. Many children with behavioural disorders are just seeking attention, the same is true in adults too. It's just that adults tend to misbehave for attention in much more bizarre ways.
