like, "slow jam", "turn my way"...
and i saw this mentioned before on here already.
what exactly is "slow jam" about anyway? like certain lines make you think its all about basking about the "good life"... and "turn my way", especially...'dont wanna be like other people...'
or am i just misreading it? whats the band said rehardign their end of it?

i know.. but hes saying he does not.. not that he does, and does not. he doesnt wanna be like 'normal' people, iot sounds to me. which seems odd.. because well, barney is sort of 'normal'.. and not like other bands out there. they seem to have remained pretty close to their roots in that aspect and not getting into all of that living in mansions bullshit and having 20 homes all over the world, etc. ok, the only real difference is, they dont have day to day typical 'jobs' , and have a little more money than the usual person.. but arent like madonna or.. the stone.. or u2 or whatever.
not that theres anything wrong with someone who MAY (like, lets say madonna or whatever), to enjoy that life.. but seems odd to me that IF it were the case.. why would they so rawly and openly write about it. its strange. and took me aback for a moment.
and not that i am trying to start shit either. i just thought, since this IS a new order board, who have a better understanding of their lyrics and the whole mindset of the like, that there'd be a more clearer theory or answer.
Slow Jam doesn't even have a real fucking title, honestly, do NOT attempt to seek wisdom and meaning in there.
I always picture Barney laughing his knackers off when he turns out stuff like Slow Jam, or that "in the corner over there" line that upsets a lot of people and amuses me greatly.
Even in songs where he's being deadly serious, I find, his lyrics are often a few BREATHTAKING couplets, little 2 liners that The Bard himself would be proud of, tied together with a lot of lines that are less elegant and profound, and often just daft. There's no way it's cos he can't write great lyics for a whole song (cos there's plenty that are amazing beginning to end), he just has a really fucking odd sense of humour (and doesn;t he despise writing anyway?).
That' my £0.02 on the subject anyway.

NO's lyrics to me made a lot of sense up until republic. Barney and the rest are generally happy fairly sober people now and dont have the angst or heartaches to write about or the drugs to help them now! thats prbably why lyrically they're best days are behind them. I wouldnt read too much into the lyrics on 'get ready'...
