Barneys inspiration for lyrics on Grrrrready?? — Forum Archive

This song just came on the radio and made me chuckle enough to look up the lyrics...

Made me think, some of the lyrics are frighteningly similar to Barneys quirky sense of lyric writing (most notably on TMW,SLOWJAM amongst others.)

I'm sorry, that is the worst set of lyrics I've ever heard/read, particuarly:

'I don't wanna see a ghost It's the sight that I fear most I'd rather have a piece of toast'

I think Barneys a poetic genius in comparison

I know mate, im Barneys biggest advocate when it comes to defending his lyrics believe you me! But the "toast" line reminds me for example of the classic "arithmetic" line in SlowJam!! :lol: :lol:

Maybe your onto something there Shugsy...Barneys Lyrics probably do reflect his drugs of choice at the time. very insightful.

Think he must be sticking to cups of tea on the evidence of some of the shockers on the last album though

Its also got lots of "ooohh oooh's" in it as well in a similar style of Temptation.... Hmmmm, fishy!!

Shug mate, i think that she may have been one of those fucked up states where what seems like flashes of brilliance at the time gets recorded and immortalised onto vinyl for the world to laugh at!!

(mostly cos most things beat arithmetic in my world, but hey. ;) )

Amused is the best word for it missus;) So many different comedy moments from The Barnster - that's for sure. I just think the lyrics (espescially Slow Jam) fit perfectly to the song :nod: As fer Shakira's breasts mmmmm :lol:

and Shugzy, you're right. best to be amused by many of the Barnster's more...questionable lyrics. :rolling: and for the most part, they are really amusing. very few actually make me wince. except maybe "you keep me feeling fresh; we're driving down that highway." despite the fact that i like that song a lot (other than that line), i still can't help feeling Barney's singing for a douche commercial... :nono:

I have to agree with you Mr Shug !! I love the lyrics for Get Ready ... The only line that gave me a laugh is in Slow Jam
