Growing on me too. :) Hearing clips of it on here a while ago didnt really do it justice and it took me a while to get into it to be honest.

The Chemical Bros. Collaboration bit seems to have been largely dropped now...? Is it credited as full NewOrder single and they just did the production.?

same here, took me a while to like it, wasn't quite what I was expecting. Do love it now mind

I think part of the chem bros bit being dropped is coz they've got a new single out next week. Again well done London Records for postponing the NO single to within a week of the Chem bros one, potentially making hard up CB fans have to make a choice between the two.

Maybe it's just that I've heard Crystal about 275 million times, but at the moment HTS does sound better.

Gorgeous song now, had difficulty liking it at first.

Here to Stay echoing through the song is quite haunting..

Ah, well, thats another £7-50 for the NO boys drinking fund then. :shine:

agreed, it is a really good song. i wouldn't say it's my favourite thing ever, and it did take a bit to grow on me, but i really like it quite a lot. 'specially the full-length version. but for some reason, i usually don't care for radio edits of most things anyway. :D

Jeff, it can't hope to dent the charts when it isn't even being RELEASED here!

Took me quite afew listens to truly get into it to but now Im loving it ... Only been able to listen to it by watching the video clip over and over so when I get my hands on the 12" and CD single, it'll probably take it to another level. I don't think I'll ever like it as much as Crystal though.

it's just classic New Order,it works well at the end of the film, giving it a really euphoric ending.and on that last verse or chorus or whatever it is where barney sings "we're here to stay",it's like "C"MON!!!" bleedin'ace!!!

WELL DONE London Records?? I hope you're being sarcastic Sebsy!!.... Don't give those useless bastards any credit AT ALL! They've delayed the thing enough as it is - now timing it alongside Oasis, Pulp, The Streets, Doves, and about a dozen other huge names for the same release date. Me thinks even the next Chems single proper with that old lemon-sucker Richard Ashcrap will trounce it chart wise. Simply because Ashcrap sings on it and the NME (as with Oarsis) still lick his arse at every available opportunity. I was really hoping New Order would have a top ten hit with this one, as it's a NEW song, not lifted off the album, but now I'm not so sure. Probably top 20 at the very best. Sorry for being so pessimistic but there you go....besides, the song isn't even playlisted yet, so what chance is it going to have?? :( :(

Ashcroft is pure class, not as good as NO in my opinion but he is still class.

Its the best thing from the Get Ready era and just about pips Crystal.

The housecat mix is really superb when the sun is shining outside your window and the keyboardy bits are wafting down the street.

Mr Rasputin, on 9th June a number of us will be meeting in a park to drink shandy 'a la 12 year old Tamworth native'. (I'm not native by the way)

hts in the 'excellent' region of former new order single releases. not the depth of crystal, instead, a great pop record. end chrous one of the most sublime uses of barney's silky vocals.

New Order, to me go much deeper than pop. We can`t lable such purveyors of musical bliss as pop, can we?

even new order admit to being a pop band unfortunately. i believe they are far deeper than what is known as 'pop' however, am aware of my bias towards them.

joy division where never pop, neither was early order ... but true faith and beyond no turned punk to pop - i doubt many would disagree with this.

15 ain't bad.

I think the best bit in the song is when the bass comes in quietly half way through the first verse.

At the beginning I didn't like the song, cos I expected something closer to the excellent Out of Control (I was a bit disappointed by the Chems' production :(. Had the impression that they had done a fat soup with all the sounds they could find on their synths  ).

But now it's grown on me  and I just can't refrain from listening (and singing) to it at least 6 times a day in my car :jump:.

...and as i'm listening to the Felix da Housecat mix again, i realise that there *is* one small thing about it that bothers me. apart from the echo placed on Barney's vocal. (and keep in mind that i do actually like this mix quite a bit. :D )

there's one recurring keyboard bit that sounds a bit too much like "Enjoy the Silence" for my taste.

does anyone else hear this as well...? :skeptic:

Hell yes. At 1 minute 48 seconds.

For me Here To Stay is the best NO single since Regret - a truly uplifting chorus and great electronic hooks. The Felix Da Housecat mix is good enough to be released as a seven inch edit - this mix really enhances the track with extra synth melodies.

Hooky looked possesed ! Was that a plectrum or an 'E' in his gob when hitting the pads. Grrrr !!! :D

I thought he looked demented! :evil4:

I like it pretty well, even though thanks to Barn's ennunciating I thought the line about "leap of faith" was "leaper faith" or perhaps "leper faith" the first few times I heard it. Excellant tune, coulda been on Technique the way it sounds...

thank you. so i'm not totally insane.

...not for that reason, anyway. ;)

 that's because he DID! when he didn't look like he was going to have a heart attack and collapse, that was! that one particular shot of him when he was banging away on the electronic drum kit with that fierce growly look on his face...i really thought there was going to be foam flying out of his mouth next!

as for Barney, the hopping was quite amusing. but boy, he really can't lip-synch, can he? John Simm in the video background was doing a better job matching up.

and Stephen looked...annoyed. definitely annoyed. i guess i might be, too. wouldn't want to mime, certainly.

...and, was still strange to see no Gillian...

I don't know my nu-metal bands very well, but is it "Toxicity" by System of a Down that sounds just like "Enjoy the Silence?" (The verses anyway.)

The first time I heard it I thought it was a cover version. Next time it comes on the radio, rather than leap for the power button, sing "Enjoy the Silence."

 er...fooked if i know? i don't know anything about nu-metal bands, either. so i couldn't help you there. but i'll bear it in mind, if i happen to be stuck somewhere with someone with the bloody radio blasting and i hear something that sounds like that...yeah.

(sorta) speaking of bad quasi-covers, i heard the single most POINTLESS remix of something i've heard in ages the other day.

it was textbook bad trance...Optical doing a remix of Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday." was the most generic thing i've ever heard. :nonono:

i have nothing but respect for people who do GOOD remixes, but yeesh. disgusting. and why would you remix that load of shite in the first place...? :nonono:

I like it. I didn't think I would at first, thinking it was just a barrage of boring synthy sounds, but after a few listens it has really grown on me and I think it's better than any one song on Get Ready. The vocal melody, especially the 'like bright light etc' chorus, is beautiful, and the guitar, bass, and synth parts work great with it and each other. I think Hooky's bass playing is at his soulful best throughout. Not everything NO's done does something for me, but this one does. Gush, gush, gush.

Plus, the video whets my appetite for the movie, and it's surreal fun to watch a fake Barney in the Joy Division, pre-singing-Barney setting 22+ years ago 'singing' a new New Order song!

I'm referring to "Here to Stay" above, not the awful (offal?) Orgy remix!! In case there's any confusion
