These two contestants arrived within the last few years. Both claim that New Order is their main inspiration. Personally I like the Bravery cuz they portray a more rocky kind of NO style as opposed to Killers more mellow style. What do yall think, if you have ever listened to either of them, which I recommend.

They are both shit. Honest Mistake by the Bravery is the biggest (and worst) NO rip-off of all time.
The Killers are slightly better, but Brandon Flowers has a ridiculous moustache so loses all credibility in my eyes
I liked An Honest Mistake when it came out but the album was pretty lukewarm.
The less said about the fraud of a group that are The Killers, the better.
Don't quite know the reason why so many people on here have it in for The Killers. I quite like em 
Can't stand either of them. Interpol is good, though their gloom is a bit forged sounding-there is something excessively meticulous about their music, and when the songs aren't there, then their shallowness is apparent. Honestly, The Killers and the Bravery have very little to do with NO in my book.

Our house like 'em, Hot Fuss is a super album. To be honest I can never understand the argument that bands who have been influenced by someone else must therefore be crap. Even if you have a blatant rip off band, if the music is good why worry about it?
And when it comes to blatant rip offs, if you've ever been in a band writing your own material, don't tell me you've never written a song in all innocence that when finished sounds remarkably similar to one by a band you like. Then if it's a good song you go with it, end of.
Wish I could have got tickets to see the Killers this tour because they'll be ace.
PS The Cure at times sound like New Order but they're shit.

Yeah but there's a difference between the odd song or two written in innocence and producing entire albums filled with rip offs. Each Killers song you've heard before (usually in a superior form) by New Order, Duran Duran etc. or whoever's back catalogue they decided to pilfer it from.
For instance, for this new album they went away for 6 months, selected Bruce Springsteen as their template and came back with a load of Springsteen-sounding songs mixed with U2 (who they'd just been on tour with). 0 out of 10 for effort boys, at least try and put your own spin on things! As a listener I just find it baffling the brownie points they get from music fans and press alike for something that is basically, a rehash.
All personal taste of course!
For the Killers, I own Hot Fuss (and I want to give the CD away now). For The Bravery I heard "An Honest Mistake". I haven't heard much from both sides to make my decision. I do agree that both of them try to sound like New Order without being individualistic. Which goes back to the point that my peers are all ga-ga for The Bravery and The Killers, but don't know NO/JD... these kids will sure buy and listen anything.... :p
Gotta wait for the second Bravery album to make a choice, surely. As it stands I'm for the Bravery, but if they release the equivalent pile of ego-centric horse shit that the Killers just have, as their second album, then the Bravery too can go to the task of frightening off birds in my garden.
I think both bands will fade out very shortly.

i'm biased, 'cause i've known sam from the bravery since i was 15. don't know much of their music, though.

I know what you're saying, being in a band myself. Sometimes I get dreadfully self-conscious about the influences (JD/NO, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma), because, well, we spent our teenage years absorbing this music. But my complaint about the Killers isn't about them ripping off NO, 'cause in fact, I think that's a bit overstated. Rather, I just find their music horribly shallow. They're the bubblegum of postpunk, and it just doesn't do it for me.

saying that, I quite liked most of the Braverys first album. And Hot Fuss is brilliant.
Editors and Interpol are actually better than them both though.

For once i agree with you. The Killers are complete shite THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE NEW ORDER,THE ONLY REASON WE MENTION THEM IS COS THEY NICKED THE NAME FROM CRYSTAL AND NAME CHECKED THEM IN AN INTERVIEW. Radiohead are more like New Order than a lot of other groups,and will be around for a long time.
That remix of the Killers trach that Hooky did was very good.
I've only got a little bit of it though - was it released as a single?
Killers make a great live sound - I've seen them at festivals a coule of times. They sound great from the next field, then improve as you get closer - drawn towards them.
Agree that they sound nothing like NO though - can't see any similarities at all.

Well for the Bravery you cant really judge the entire album from one song played on MTV. There are some other cool songs on the album not put out outside the album. But ya, theyre nothing worthy of looking upon the greatness that is New Order
I don't hear New Order in the Killers at all.
In fact the only band I can think of where 'New Order rip-off' comes to mind is some of the Cure's stuff.
And a one-hit wonder band called Concan from long ago.
A friend played me the new 'Killers' album without telling me what it was. Granted, we were pissed up and it was 2am but I liked it. Was horrified to find out who it was, so perhaps my predudices have been subdued somewhat. Either that or I'm trying to re-live my youth.
An Honest Mistake drives me nuts, since it actually sounds like New Order at first (if you aren't really listening) and I go and get all excited, only for the radio to be playing complete rubbish once again...
