i went many times, what a place :)
used to see so many faces in there, and memorably once played pool with sir peter hook in the pub opposite.

Went about two or three times as a club,though never got to enjoy it in the acid stages.Mind you by then it got expensive(?).I know they were advertising about £30 to get in on New Years Eve one year.
Liked it as a venue.Saw NO on their Low Life tour 1984,Pet Shop Boys,Cabaret Voltaire,Thomas Dolby,Age Of Chance and m-m-m-MANTRONIX! 
Think I only actually went about a dozen times or so,& those were mostly pre '89 & to see bands rather than post Madchester & acid house.As I remember,it started to get a bit lively around '87 & the admission & drinks prices shot up.Saw N.O. there 4 times,& all absolute quality,even tho' the '87 set was bit short,& sound was always shit,but always eventful....seeing Hooky go ballistic at the crowd during STYT in Oct'86 a particular highlight.First visit was in Jan'84 to see ACR as a 17yr old....it was like a garage to me,with some longcoat dressed ,depressed Curtis clones sat round the few tables,just sighing & saying little.Fantastic to me tho'! Also Happy Mondays,Cabaret Voltaire,M People(!),!
Just the once in July 83 to see New Order. The place was heaving and unbearably hot. Worth it if only for the British debut of Thieves.
I was there in May'91,the night Kraftwerk played the Apollo.Kraftwerk were in the club after the concert which was pretty cool,i think K-Klass played live that night in the club too.A night that will live with me forever.
Yeah,in my 'youth' my mates and i went frequently between 89-92,once things changed (for the worse) we stopped going. Remember Sasha playing one night and hed mixed a record in then headed to the dance floor! He didnt get back to the decks till after the record had finished-a legend!
Never saw any gigs there, but used to go at least twice a month from '89 - '95 (when it wasn't shut!). For layout and atmosphere, it is one of the best clubs I've ever been to.
Went to the tenth birthday where they had a fair ground across the canal. Great for New Year do's too!
Last time I went there as a club was on the 6th July 1996, where I had the pleasure to have three pints with one fast talking, happy-go-lucky Peter Hook and his then mate David Potts, only I had no idea who the fuck he was cuz the Monaco single hadn't come out yet, so I never spoke with him. Hooky was great, though, and I had a brilliant time that night.
Other than that, it was checking out the Haçienda apartments last December before embarking on an unforgettable journey of the wheel, where I got stuck up there whilst the voice said to my left was no 1 Deansgate where supposedly Tony W lives. Despite its German built, I was scared shitless and vowed never to be back. And the Hac apts are shite, two bedroom and really overpriced. So much for lodging in Castlefield.

Fra more expensive in the 90s for a NYE- I think it got to £75 one year - when Todd Terry was paid an astronomical amount for a couple of hours work. I went almost every week from 89-97 - the overall vibe of the place could not be matched- although not every night was fantastic. Saw many bands there - although never NO. However, I did see Electronic's first ever gig there after the Hacienda reopened following its first lot of gang related problems- legendary!!
My favourite club from '89 until it got unbearable.
Flesh was always good, and relatively free from trouble (the gangsters didn't like the gay nights).
Saw Grandmaster Flash pull the same trick - put a record on then got on the dancefloor - shouting at us all to party harder or he'd go home!
It was a brilliant club - sound system was amazing and, on it's night, the crowd second to none.
If you could push a button and go back for one more night...

went infrequently due to moving to london. this hacienda poster I carved off the wall outside after the gig.

Was too young for its '86 - '91 peak and by the time I could go its gang problems, on/off openings and the rise of Cream and Gatecrasher mean't I didn't make it there. Another bummer was missing out on the 24 Hour Party People film which wanted extras and used the Hacienda for the 'last night' scene in the film before it was demolished for the appartments. Double gutted!

Hi mega are you sure about it not being filmed there as the audio commentary from Tony Wilson says it was the last night of the Hac and the daytime shots with Steve Coogan and Paddy Constandine were done on the film set. Mind you it is Tony Wilson and the Hac did look derilict (on the outside) in 2001 so you might be right. BTW was anyone an extra for the 24HRPP film as when they gave out the details I was in work and couldn't get out of it. Cheers!
It was rather flat by the time they filmed 24HPP, besides the characteristic yellow and black tape around the building site entrance!
I went from about 93 onwards.
The first time I went my friend was sick down my back within 5 minutes of walking in. Which was nice.
Spent many a happy night in there until it closed.

deffo sure. the outside wall was still standing, but the interior/roof/etc had gone.
i'll see if i can find a piture.

Unfortunately and very regrettably never went due to spending all my money getting shit faced in blackpool, I did have a membership card though, little credit card style silver and yellow job, unfortunately lost it when my wallet got nicked while doing the above!
