So... how did your NO/JD career start costing you money?
My first ten purchases were:
I took a bit of a gamble with 4-7 as I bought them all at the same time in the same shop in 1990... Probably the best investment (entertainment wise) that I've ever made though!

subculture low life perfect kiss then i went backwards to all the JD stuff. yes you could still get the singles in shops then. After that I just got every release as it came out.

Hum, I feel like I told that story too many times.
First time I bought something for a New Order tune, was the Bright Lights Big City soundtrack (True Faith) in 1988.
Then Sebastien did so many mix tapes for me, it took me a while, but I started by buying Substance, then one album at the time, the last one being Movement which I bought the day I saw them live for the first time in Toronto back in 1993.
Then I started to collect used recordings for CD singles and stuff.. while buying all the singles from Republic.
Technique started it all for me.
I liked Blue Monday when it was released (didn't everybody) but I didn't get hooked on collecting until '89. Now I spend quite a lot of money (when I should be saving for a house) on NO CD's :D
Started after Unknown Pleasures had been released, but Closer hadn't. Bought UP after hearing my buddy's copy of Transmission, then I sought that one down. LWTUA and Closer were next, bought from the good folks at the U.S. branch of Rough Trade, who alse sent me (all told) three copies of the Komakino flexi as well as a couple of Closer badges for being a good customer. Still was next, and then the procession of New Order singles and albums began.
