Anyone seen the film yet?
Ceremony's played in its entirety in an important part of the film, it sounds kind of dreamy and hazy the way it's put in the sound mix.
Great movie...the people that boo'd it at Cannes are just idiots, there's no other explanation.
Though if you don't like 'slow' movies you'll get an ulcer, probably not for you.

I would be tempted to see it knowing you get the whole of Ceremony.
I aren't grabbed by the idea of the film generally, but your review is quite presuasive - not keen on Kirsten though.
I heard that it's 'All Cats Are Grey' that's in it - is this correct? Do they play the whole song as well?

it's not this song...I don't remember the song name but Smith sings "Feel it"s like the end of the world". They don't play the whole song but it's a pretty good choice and it's absolutely ok with the movie. But we've got the whole Ceremony ! It's the young queen birthday and the song does perfectly with Coppola 'pictures. I think it's better than the Ceremony video clip itself.
It's "Plainsong" off Disintegration - positively regal sounding as used by Ms. Coppola. I think "All Cats Are Grey" was used in the film as well.
The full "Ceremony" was a real treat too - perfectly placed in the film.

I was referring to Plainsong being used for the coronation scene. Perfect.
All Cats Are Grey plays through the closing credits.
No AOC in the movie, just the trailer. The movie was okay, but not great. The Cure's "Plainsong" went directly into "Ceremony" (1980 version), so that was good. Hong Kong Garden made me laugh as well.
