New Order t-shirts were the ultimate fashion accessory back in the early-mid 80s. Offical ones were hard to get hold of and rarely released. Here are my top 5:

  1. From Manchester With Love t-shirt - New Order/The Fall/the Smiths from the Liverpool 86 gig. I have searched high and low for an image of this tshirt which was black, but not seen one since I lost mine 20 years ago. Can anyone post an image of this classic?

  2. New Order Summer 1987 tshirt with summer tour dates on the back (half of which were changed if I remember rightly). Barney seems to have one at Glastonbury that year.

  3. USA 89 tshirt. I was the envy of Manchester with this classic until it was released a few months later. I went to see them in Connecticut with PIL and sugarcubes and got this one there.

  4. New Order/ACR/Happy Mondays GMEX tshirt. Pink and green with circles. More common, this one. I still have the gig ticket somewhere with the same image.

  5. Perfect Kiss tshirt - image of classic painting "The Kiss" on there. I was never 100% sure this was official although I am sure I bought it from The Hacienda. Anyone remember this one?

Can you remember any other classic t-shirts?

the Get Ready red striper is by far the worst.

We all went in a club after Woolves and I saw a guy in a well-worn Run 2 shirt. The fact that it was so well-faded by countless visits to the washing machine gave the design a lovely new dimension.

I tried to swap shirts with the guy, like a footballer after a match, but he was having none of it!

Have 2 & 4,also SOTN tour tee from Oct '86 & Birmingham N.E.C. from '89...all showing signs of age now, unfortunately:cry: :thumb:

93 Barcode is by far the coolest.

The Recycle t-shirt took ages to grow on me (literally) but that was sound as well.

I had the pink 89 USA t-shirt with the star.

Round & Round Green/Purple ambersand was also ace.

Temptation 98 another beauty and the red splash on the 2001 tour t.

Saville re-did the Tecnique cherub on black with just a white outline.....I believe Rocket paid £25 for this for me birthday a year or two back

I must've had just about every t-shirt at one time or another.

Just remembered another one.

Reading 89. Black with a bright image - can't remember much else. I think other versions of this existed for other gigs at the same time.

anyone got an inage of that "Manchester With Love" classic yet???????

It went quite wrong. He thought I was having a go at him. I said I was only joking and gave him my FAC383 badge, but then he thought I was offering him the badge in exchange for the shirt. I was pissed out of my head – we both were. But he wasn’t letting go of that shirt!

I get like that with a drink in me - Ren will know what I’m on about!

I had this one - looking back it was pretty vulgar!

My faves:

  1. 84 Tour with green sci-fi pic
  2. SOTN 1986 Autumn Tour
  3. 1987 - 6-8-10 T-shirt
  4. 1989 - FESTIVAL / CONCERT
  5. GMEX - Orange one

My fave back then was the 84 Green/white sci-fi thing, wore it so often it fell apart!

Must admit I do like the current Blue Monday design, but nothing will ever beat the simplicity of the bottle green Ceremony shirt.

This was my most worn...

Seems to have shrunk in the wash though

I still have the Green 84 Tour shirt, it is in a terrible state and completley un-wearable, but it is the only New Order shirt that I will never throw away

Summer '87 Concert '89 Factory in the Park '87 (bootleg) US Tour '93 (barcode) Get Ready US (Coming Soon) US Tour '89 Never seen any t-shirts at the G-Mex in '88! Unknown Pleasures remains the most iconic design though.

John - i had the orange one on at Wolves, bit tatty but ok. looked like the ticket did.

P.S. my faves are U.S 89' Stars & Stripes & 84' summer Dali design

i must still have my vintage low life shirt somewhere. i just haven't been able to find it for a couple of years.

I had a few rare-ish NO t-shirts over the years.

1986 - White with black and red shapes "State of the Nation"

1987 - White with black type "New Order Substance"

1993 - Grey with flouro orange type "Republic - The Limited Run..." Average album but decent shirt.

Grabbed a black Recycle shirt at Reading too. The fit is quite a bit more snug these days, I guess it must have shrunk in the wash... ;)

Never noticed you had that on mate. Why wasn't it red like the ticket? I couldn't have brought myself to buy an orange shirt anyway. :evil4:

Shirts are white; cirles are orange. Was wearing mine at the Old Trafford gig - someone offered me £25.

I said "that'll get you a hand job, but if you want it up me bumhole it'll be £50".

BOOM BOOM.

Had two Touched ones - one white, one black. Also the "Concert" one from Birmingham 89 which I liked at the time but I saw one recently and thought it was a bit naff.

My favourite was always the wahing powder box Run2.

Looks good on girls too

back in the day i had loads Green/white sci fi job TLU low life True faith WIM fine time (big tablet on front) round and round (big & on front, lots of silly comments of people saying and what?) the obligitory unknown pleasures and a very nice one with a news paper clip of I.C's death and the words of LWTUA on it, which was absolutely massive (even for me 6'2" and 21 stone at the time)

I probably had more, but things are a bit hazey between 1987 and 1995

I spotted that Run2 tshirt outside Wolves Civic after the gig.Very nice

Used to own a summer 84 green sci fi tee. That was prob my all time fave

Why can't I remember the 84 sci-fi t-shirt?

Anyone got a link or an image?

And I am still dying to see the "Manchester With Love" t-shirt. It had its own Fac number too - the only t-shirt to get this?

There were two Summer 87 shirts, one (see left) already mentioned. Gigs were all correct but St Austell was cancelled (obviously)after they were printed. This is the same design as appeared on 6.8.10 but on a black shirt and not white.

The other Summer 87 was no (lower case) overlapping in peach and purple with Summer 1987 written underneath (no back print). This is now 'nicked' by newsround as their logo.

Just found my old t shirts,

Concert (birmingham 89) Colors are horrible now, but looked good at the time!

Grey Republic shirt (From Germany 93!) This one looks abit dated too!

Reading 93 (Barcode, this one still looks good). But I think U2 ripped this off a few years later?

Recycle 98 I've got a black one with (new) written on the front and a white one with order on the front. Think these were from Apollo 98. The ones at reading (i think) were in white or black and said new order on the front!

Then from the temptation gigs 2 black t shirts designed by saville (I remember it saying) These were done like the confusion sleeve i.e new order with the date 29.12.98 amd the place manchester all superimposed over the top of each other (in different colors) and the same for london, but this had to years 98 and 99!

I've got an old black eighties one, which is similar to the 87 tour t shirt but it lists loads of european dates, not sure of the year though!

Favourite is the USA stars and stripes one though, white not pink!! And the run2 washing machine. Remember seeing this for sale in an Our Price in 1990, but didn't pick it up! There was a good flower design t shirt at old trafford but 20 quid seemed steep. And the new order polo shirt at the recent gigs was nice. If I see that one again I might pick it up!

Was that the green abstract print on white shirt? I've still got it somewhere. Somebody told me at the time that it was a French import... Anyone remember the Blue Monday one with the blue guitar player on it? (OK, it's a famous painting, but I dunno who's!)That was a favourite of mine for years. Very faded now! And another limited one was the white on black one that came with the "Academy" VHS release back in the day. Gave that an airing when they played Brixton a few years ago and got a few approving nods - probably from some of you hardcore Vikings before I knew ya!

Yep, my first NO shirt... Never sure if it was official or not... Very battered now though... Almost wore it to Wembley... Glad I didn't, as it would have almost certainly disintegrated in the moshpit... Lost count of how many times I've sewn the seams on that one up...

Current fave is the Digital shirt I bought last weekend...

Currently fav shirts I've still got are MOVEMENT,RECYCLE and TEMPTATION (the NO and Underworld Xmas gig 1998),Technique,and the bootleg SUBSTANCE shirt I bought in 2001. Used to have till they stretched beyond recognition TOUCHED and World In Motion. Still got my MONACO shirt from when they did MANCHESTER ACADEMY 3 supported by TRAVIS (!?!),and used to have the blue ELECTRONIC shirt with the orange type AKA the Get The Message sleeve.

They didn't sell any shirts at the 85 show I attended, I still have (somewhere) a faded Technique tour shirt with a capsule on front, one half pink and the other half orange. thinking about it now reminds me that an ex-girlfriend wound up with the set of badges on sale from that tour. :banghead:

Love the green and gold Ceremony shirt, probably my fave of all of 'em that I've seen.

I've just got the green Ceremony shirt. I finally got around to buying the Unknown Pleasures shirt on Blue Saturday after meaning to buy it for years.

the only ones i had in the '80s were the low-life t-shirt with the four of them on the front and the technique shirt from the '89 tour. it said 'technique' on the front and gave the tour dates on the back (i think, or maybe it just said 'new order'. or both. either way it was heavily worn.). both of them have gone on to t-shirt heaven now.

i also had a JD LWTUA black t-shirt, as well. it's gone, too, though i have a new JD one now; the one with the lines on it.

One of my mates runs the website. A lot of the trainers on there are mine. I collect Adidas Originals, just about to head off to the dam, they`ve just opened a new store there. Everytime a new store opens they stock it out with the rarest stuff. You can get the 80's Casuals tee-shirts from Script in your city centre.

Bollocks. Never knew they had a website! Was looking for a couple of t-shirts just to take away to Brasilia with me and had a look for 80's Casuals on ebay a few weeks back, to no avail. Had only seem them there before.

Like the logo of the site too. Very easy on the eye.

Shug you`ve got no chance! Someone offered me £500 for my green one,i just laughed! I dont even wear it,its wrapped in paper, plastic and sealed up again-Minty mint as RM would say.

I had a bootleg copy of the green abstract sci fi shirt. It shrunk:lol: My fave is the bottle green ceremony shirt but it looks awful on me (pale skin) and matches with nothing else I have in my wardrobe. Often wear the pale blue Movement T and always get comments from people in their 40s saying, 'yeah, great band!':thumb:

Cack, was staying in Amsterdam for the PSV game, I only saw one shop selling adidas trabs. Had Winsurf Lo, I want but for over a ton. Are you a serious collector or just keen like me, (got about a dozen pairs)? Do you know John Connolly from Swine? He's got about a gazillion pairs.

Yer really not making me feel any better amigo ;) finding one of these at an affordable price would be my pride and joy, I have never paid more than a ton for anything - but for one of these tops I would definitely be tempted.

I still have my navy blue Brotherhood t-shirt bought at the gig in Dallas. It's completely worn out and doesn't fit anymore, but I'll never get rid of it. I still wear my Joy Division t-shirt to work every Friday....

I had the Technique & Fine Time ones, back in 89

The Fine Time one was great - big pil in 2 gaudy day-glo colours, on a black shirt - still have it, but its well faded now.

I think some girl may have 'borrowed' the album one:cry:
