.... It seems to get frequently overlooked :(

Most people acknowledge it as a quality piece of NewOrder but despite being played to death live it still manages to do it everytime for me!!

So i thought i start a thread singing its praises!! :D

Its one of my favorites. It is actually the song that got me into new order in the first place a couple of years ago.

I love BLT (song not sandwich being a momentarily lapsed vegetarian ;) ) Although my fave song usually changes frequently, I always go back to this as being my one of my ultimate fave's - the other being AOC.

If the next NOOL shandy fest is in Brum I could almost guarantee it WILL get played (so long as I can remain upright long enough :o) and it would be nice as I'm normally the only one left on the dancefloor leaping around like a freak. :(

AGREED TOP TUNE....IT SOUNDS BETTER IN A CLUB WHEN YOU ARE SHITFACED...DID THEY PLAY IT IN THE BLUE NOTE ON YOUR NIGHT OUT IN DERBY...THE DJ NORMALLY DOES IN THERE EVEN WITHOUT THREATS TO HIS LIFE....NOT A MASSIVE FAN OF IT LIVE..BUT A CRATE OF RED STRIPE, A HEAVING DANCE FLOOR!!!!

Sounded great on the radio today at work during the lunch hour 80's flashback show, which is one of 3 NO tunes that they are playing a bit more, I've noticed, the others being Blue Monday and True Faith. Compared to the dross that is usally being aired 24/7, I absolutely never tire of hearing those songs in that context.

Besides, Brotherhood is my fave NO lp, but just barely ahead of Technique.

BLT was a hit down under, one of the few NO songs that managed down here. It was also the was i got into NO, and then Frente' did a cover and it got some more belated attention. :evil4:

I can't believe this thread - It seems to get frequently overlooked?

What?! In the same way as Blue Monday and Toothache get frequently overlooked?

Surely New Order's most famous song - outside of these circles - after the two afore-mentioned tracks? Especially with our American cousins?

Used to love this one to death - short, sharp and nasty - but the drawn out wimpy version they're doing live now just doesn't cut it for me. It's no longer a track for the boys down the front (Hooky once famously dedicated this to the 'next generation of Blackburn Lads') and now more aimed at those people jigging their hips on the fringes. Shame that, but a sign of the times.

Mr Jarvo, mefinks u misunderstood me mate! Frequently overlooked as in.. everyone generally agrees its a great song but it doesnt tend to muster the tabloid type attention that BM,Tmtn,Crystal etc. undoubtably do on this forum hence this thread letting the spotlight shine on this unassuming yet important track for once... :)

Mebbe they keep playing it live cause it gives Barney a chance to ape about and dance!! ;)

That was a moment i will never forget. We all stood on the podiums in the corner of the club and shouted the lyrics to BLT until everyone left!

I used to love BLT when I was 15. Now I'm 30 and I hate it.

Why do they still play it live? It's simply horrible. Please, New Order, stop it, or learn to play it well.

BLT is a really great song. and i can say that this is so because temptation is always VERY strong to get annoyed when one hears something over and over and over and over and OVER again. as has unfortunately been the case with that song in the States.
but no matter how many times i hear it, i've never gotten annoyed with it...'cept perhaps if it's the short version! so yes, i would have to agree that it's a great, great song.

That always sounded good live although the 12" release killed it dead I still feel the low life version is fantastic!!

It has vocals that make even the most ardent revenge fan weep. I hate it. Instrumental version might be nice...

I always thought it was done for the video, but I have absolutely no basis for thinking that.

it seems to be the one that usually ends up on 80s compilations. hell, i guess you could say it's the most popular new order song. anyways, i think this was the first new order song i'd heard (or was it blue monday)...i can't remember...

Ah, I love BLT, even the horribly truncated version I occassionally hear on this Eighties radio station.
