WFTSC songs not played live

Seeing as their live work is beginning to draw to a close for this year (any more gigs after the Argentinian one?), I was wondering what from WFTSC has yet to be aired live.

Strangely all three unplayed songs appear on the album in a consecutive group: I Told You So, Morning, Night and Day and Dracula's Castle. Do they not care for these songs much or have they never been rehearsed for live inclusion? Going on the list here, there's as many as thirty-seven recorded songs which have never (yet) been played live. I wonder if it's because they've forgotten the parts for them or can't be arsed to rehearse them.

Ps will they ever not play Temptation? It's currently number one on the times-played chart! No danger of forgetting the notes on that! It might be their lucky charm too.

They forgot the notes at Glastonbury 87.....and its only got 3 chords!!!

Sadly, I was at the only concert this tour they didn't play Temptation (Coachella USA). I was disappointed. The last time before that was sometime in 1989 I think.

I can see them playing Morning night & day, but I doubt it. My gut feeling is that I told you so would sound better live.

A lot of (non-NOOL) people I've spoken too have this as their favourite New Order song.

It's Bernards personal favourite and he sings it reasonably well. So, I'd probably say no

They've not played Temptation two times I've seen them

Queen Elizabeth Hall and Manc V Cancer!

TBH, all of the songs on WFTSC that I liked have been played (even Working Overtime ), so I'm not fussed on them digging out others.

I've a feeling MNAD will be next, as others have mentioned.

Its a perfectly simple question. I'm just wondering what songs you have experienced in the live environment which has made you form that opinion.

Once again, what's your point? Are you saying that listening to live recordings is not a good way to judge how good songs are live?

For someone who puts himself over as something of an expert on live music, i'm suprised you've come to that conclusion to be honest.

Still doesn't mean that live recordings aren't useful in determining how good a band (and songs) sounds like.

I've never presented myself to be an expert on live music. I'm just someone who enjoys going to gigs by bands that I like.

Actually Liam, the sound is often so loud down the front at gigs, and generally muddy, it often is better to actually hear the songs on recordings, you get a better idea of what they had played/said than you do down the front getting all sweaty and pished!

Anyway, to answer the question, no I don't think we'll get anymore WFTSC songs added to the set. Maybe HNWYD will make a comeback, personally hope so, but I suspect that is our lot!

Still hopeful of getting something older from Get Ready like Primtive Notion, after all they did churn out Run Wild last year.....

Especially as Barney is on that DVD saying how its hard to evaluate the songs on GR cos they havent had time to mature. Well its five years ago now (planty of time for maturing) and even 60MPH got dropped, so Crystal is the remaining legacy.

Primitive Notion would be great to hear live...although i'm still holding out for Dracula's Castle

Morning Night And Day is a top tune I hope they do live at some point. IMO it should have been chosen as a single along with Turn from WFTSC. Despite this if they never do it live I reckon they've done the best tracks from WFTSC and even Working Overtime seems to work well in a live setting. The tracks from Get Ready which I reckon would work best in a gig setting are 60 Miles An Hour, Turn My Way (would need to have Billy Corgan for that), Slow Jam, Someone Like You and Close Range. IMO it's up to the band what they want to do live and the current set list does the job well enough to present their JD/NO past, present and future and give you a good gig experience. Cheers!

They don't play (and I don't believe they have ever played) Primitive Notion, which is a crime. I guess they don't feel comfortable or confident in the new stuff. I love it, personally.

what about "Here To Stay"? That's a stone dead instant classic... and only 'played' on Top Of The Pops.
