I try to scan the site daily/every other day and don't recall seeing this...also did a search and couldn't find it so if its already been posted...my bad...ignore it and go have a sandwich or pie if you prefer.

Local radio DJ said tonight that he was at a party in NY last week with the Killer's manager who told him that they were recording a JD cover for the Control Soundtrack...no specifics on song though...

Maybe, but that's not a Joy Division song!

A shame that the soundtrack has a big flaw already.

Come on chaps, let's not pre-judge this. Perhaps the Killers will contribute something that complements the film and soundtrack. Maybe a sensative re-working of a Joy Division song or perhaps an original peice that artfully draws inspiration from JD's oeurve.

As I say, let's see what we get before we critisize

That wouldn't really work, would it?

Edit: JAK - nice to see someone else is prepared to consider the positive aspect of this.

I would direct the members of the jury towards:

Exhibit A: Retro, in general Exhibit B: International, in general Exhibit C: Flowers butchering Crystal in a duet with Barney live. Exhibit D: Singles, in general Exhibit E: Releasing a 2005 New Order single on 7" only Exhibit F: Not releasing Turn when it's on a compilation called 'Singles'

I rest my case m'lud.

The people in charge don't seem to know their arse from their elbow basically.

The skip button's already primed and ready for Brandon and co's effort

And you don't know how to quote properly young man!

It was me. I've fixed it now.

Ally, good points raised there. It will be fucking awful.

The only tribute I'd like Brandon fucking flowers to do involves a drying rack and a length of stout twine.

What an awful bastard he is.

£40* for the best impersonation of Brandon's foghorn vocal style in computer text?

* Offer only good for next 5 seconds.

A lot of people don't like Moby, but he did a great version of New Dawn Fades.

He could do a great Ian Curtis impression. I'd offer to kick the chair away.

BTW, whilst on the Killers, I keep hearing the new single called 'Boner' or something. Is it me or does Brandon now think he's Roy Orbison?

The Killers are such an original and innovative band...how could anyone object to them being on the soundtrack of a film about some Nazi band???? :evil4:

Seriously tho, the Killers just keep ripping off other bands. The name, style of music (on both albums), videos etc.

The new vid looks like Hey Boy Hey Girl by the Chems, or Juxtapozed with U by the Super Furries. Shit song as well:nod:

I'm not happy hearing about this.

In 2006 the Killers might be considered some kind of original, inspired band - but that's only compared to the rest of the music of 2006. They're nothing special.

agreed if it's the one that gets the most airplay time to.. given even more time or yet another chance maybe some Original talent will shine through. Perhaps. Embarrassing live Crystal NO appearance though. whenever that was.

Can't call The Killers too much.Mr Brightside won me a smashing prize on XFM Manchester the other week! Paul Tonkinson was on and played this warped version of BRIGHTSIDE which you had to identify.Texted in the answer at the traffic lights. "Right we're going to ring John Montague..." :jump: :handbrake: :hazard lights: "...hmm Montague...sounds a bit Shakespearean, bit gentry perhaps" "TONKY!!!!!!! WHEEEYYYYYYY!!" "What's the tune on my tape,John?" "The Killers and Mr Brightside, you wanna get that tape thrown mate,it's knackered" "Congratulations John, you've won yourself a 20" Sony BRAVIA LCD TV...AND a SONY Micro Hi-Fi with DAB Tuner!!"

AH THANK YOU. :jump: :smug mode:

Which all rather ties in with the original thread :d'oh! It probably won't even be in the film. Some soundtracks on cd include songs inspired by...not necessarily in the film.

The Killers does = Gash for the most part. Few good melodies mind. Aries- Good call. Plus the Americani-zed accent of 'a Thang like Jaeiy-zaous. Where American = Amaeiri-can. as in Bel aire. Combine all three and :eek3: How'd the Killers get involved anyways. Little Soul past the Soldier.

They're likely to be involved because the director of the film rates them.

The lead singer's voice is as annoying as that of the lead singer of Inkubus .(misspelled on purpose)

I don't want to hear anything sung/played by that band ever again.:)

I personally can't stand the Killers but if it sells more records and gets people to watch the movie and get into JD... then I suppose that'll benefit New Order. So.. a little pain for a lot of gain. New Order deserve the money.. even if it means a suckass band like the Killers bring attention to their work.

Monty, you terrible cunt!

Bollocks!

They've had plenty of mine, they can start earning it for a change.

I'm reluctant about this. Why let the Killers be on the soundtrack? It's pointless and stupid... I hope they do an instrumental.

I'm going to take the high road and reserve judgment until the actual soundtrack comes out...

I'm being serious :nervous:

Seriously, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt :evil4:

Quit looking at me like that, I have every right to my opinion! :banghead:

Okay, fine, I'll go back to BCD and be a good boy :( :toothless:

OK, I have been overly harsh on this one too. I will buy the soundtrack and see what happens, like what my good friend Tabbsy just said.

No-one seemed to notice when i said they were covering Shadowplay

Corbijn from url=http://music.guardian.co.uk/rock/story/0,,1896623,00.html]http://music.guardian.co.uk/rock/story/0,,1896623,00.html

'Initially they wanted a chic, gypsy look,' says Corbijn, who also made the video for Hot Fuss's 'All These Things That I've Done' and asked the Killers to cover Joy Division's 'Shadowplay' for his upcoming Ian Curtis biopic Control. 'Out of those discussions [for the sleeve] came these elements of faded glory.'

From http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=1564&genreid=53

The Killers have recorded a version of Joy Division's 'Shadowplay' for an upcoming Ian Curtis biopic.

Dutchman Anton Corbijn's Control is the first such production of Curtis' life, and is co-produced by the ex-punk's wife Deborah, and based on her book 'Touching From A Distance.' The title is derived from Curtis' own composition 'She's Lost Control,' generally interpreted as a commentary on his own life.

The soundtrack is said to be recorded by the remaining members of Joy Division (now of New Order) under the title Joy Division, but The Killers were invited to contribute the cover as a personal favour to the director, who previously worked with the band on the video for single 'All These Things That I've Done.'

The track is already available as a digital download with selected copies of The Killers' latest release Sam's Town.
