That is brilliant news! I've just bought the DVD single and the Felix Da Housecat mix is a classic ;) I also recommend the DVD single of Pulp's Bad Cover Version too...
They had sold out in my local V-Shop all but the DVD, so it's looking pretty damn good. But we'll have to wait for the 'proper' chart tomorrow evening. It may even be better placed in tomorrow's cuz it is based just on sales, and NOT radio play as well.
gotta say i am surprised it's gonna chart so high with the lack of radio play and promotion but maybe there is a god after all. there was a lot of interest in new order when crystal came out but it faded after that, maybe this will reignite that interest.
even radio 1 might have to sit up and take notice but then again it's not r'n'b or garage so maybe not.
Doves at no2 also and oasis at no1 (even though i fuckin hate them) and x'press 2 in there too - maybe totp could be worth a watch!

I rang up LONDON RECORDS yesterday to ask them why HTS was suddenly priced UP at HMV to £3.99 from £2.99 when released, from Wednesday after its midweek chart placing was 8.
Was feeling a bit concerned and paranoid about London's usual dirty tricks campaign to sabotage New Order's chart career (see earlier with "60MPH"), apparently they said they do that with their artists when the initial supplies of their distributed singles run out, so when it's re-ordered from major chains like HMV they usually mark it up another £1. But this still doesn't sound that plausible, as usually a record WILL be sold at an inflated price only ONCE THE RECORD HAS CHARTED - so theoretically the single should have retailed at £2.99 for the first week... it's all very confusing to me. Anyway the marketing officer I spoke to also expressed surprise that HTS's first days sales were so strong - more than they expected, which just almost confirms my worst fears about them secretly wanting NO to fail so they could drop them from their label.... perhaps??
I also subsequently obtained from London Records Marketing HQ the phone number of the Singles Buyer Marketing Guy at HMV's London Head Office and he said that they do that quite often with a lot of major label releases anyway but he was confident that HTS chart position would definitely be inside the Top 20. Me? I'm holding out - I'd LOVE the single to go Top 10 but somehow by close of business today a lot of fooking N-STYNC fans and The Streets and other UKGarage admirers may well be descending in their hundreds to snap up their respective releases, thus easily ousting HTS out of the top 15 for a start.....
I discussed this predicament with Fingers and Shuggy last night on my own Britain Grates forum as we'd temporarily set up annex-camp there to discuss New Order because we couldn't get into this site for some reason - server problems - anyone else got them last nite too??
no 10 thats not bad,considering the lack of airplay,promotion.not looking forward to the totp appearance though.remember crystal? doves at #2,is this for real or what?
The CD:UK chart is NOT the one to bothered with. It is not recognised by the BBC and as such will not be reflected on TOTP. In a few hours time we'll know the accurate chart position - might be number ten but that remains to be seen...
