This has caused much debate on here; As Mr. Blunder is certain that many of us on this board agree with his facts about New Order I thought we should see if he's right.

To recap theses 'facts' are are.....

'They are now no longer important or cool they are just another bunch of aging rockers I get little or no enjoyment from gigs any more.

They are finished. Yesterday's Men. making mediocre records

The sad thing is not that they are quitting now, the sad thing is they didn't do it 15 years ago 33 year old blokes can be on bands. 50 year old shouldn't.

New Order are now just another ageing rock act They are 50 years old and should be making their living elsewhere.

THEY ARE FINISHED! THEY SHOULD HAVE SPLIT YEARS AGO! THEY ARE A SHADOW OF THEIR FORMER SELVES! THE GIGS ARE LIKE KAREOKE!'

Maybe he should ask Tony Wilson for his own 'FAC(t)' number for that little lot... :evil4:

Maybe 'facts' is the wrong choice of words... Opinions certainly and some probably shared by some NOOLers... But even old and past their best, they're still way ahead of a lot of stuff out there right now...

No reason to give so much attention to what he said, in my opinion.

It´s just what he thinks, does it really matters??

I just let out a cheeky 'snigger' at the poll results. Mebbe I should change the David Blaine poll to 'is Blunderer a c__?':evil4:

Hey you inspired me with that poll :thumb:

Actually I just wanted to know if blunderers justification for his 'facts' being agreed with was true.....

Seems to me that they are not facts but opinions, and the opinions of not many at all..... contrary to what he has said

.... I will of course take that back should the poll show me otherwise:evil4:

You know, sometimes the fan outgrows the band long before the band outgrows the fan.

Both sides need to realize when that time has come.N.O feel that they still have something to say, others feel that the band are no longer relevant.

Move on,groove on.

For me J.D/N.O are something that i've grown up with.I'd be sorry to see it all come to an end.

I wouldn't say they were shadows of their former selves.Lp wise,I was disappointed in some of Get Ready but WFTSC was a good album. And they can still come out with tunes like GUILT,CRYSTAL,60mph....and HERE TO STAY.

just who is Paul Cahill?

To be honest i have found most of his threads quite interesting. He has plenty of positive memories of following the band and while i perhaps don't always agree with some of his sentiments, there's absolutely nothing wrong in being somewhat nostalgic and harking back to what he perceives as the 'good old days.' Some people take criticism of the band way too personally.

I wonder who blundered into voting yes?

*LOL*..come on ..i hardly think there should be a poll on some guys opinions!!Opinions make forums what they are ..if people were to post, then find out their posts were bein "polled" on ,on what was right n wrong, no one would post!!Some people on here are very quick to shoot others down ..like they have a god given right .."Ive seen New Order 50 times so what i say is right"...get fuckin real they dont belong to just you ..!!Everyone has different ideas about whats a good song ..shite song ..so whats the difference about sayin when you think a band has run its course?Go over to JD central and mention New Order and a lot of people on there would say they should have called it a day in 1980.Some people on here want to just step back a little and take a look at the bigger picture ..we ve been lucky to have 30yrs of this lot, some good stuff ..some atrocious stuff ...they cant go on forever ..when theyve had enuff ..then that will be it ..live with it..slip on a cd and remember the good times!*L*

Quite true that me old mucker. There are plenty of other good bands out there to watch and listen to. In fact i've been to 3 live gigs so far this year but not any new order ones, but that doesn't mean to say that i've changed my alegiance, for me new order are no1 ,have always been no1,and always will be no1!

While he's totally entitled to his opinions, maybe it's a bit idiotic launching into anti-NO tirades, especially on a thread about them breaking up:shrug:

In fact, some of his stuff has been quite vicious (both aimed at NO and other posters). So yeah, he is a cunt:nod:

I totally agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions:nod: .....

But if someone wants to claim opinions as facts and go on to state as justification that there are many people who agree... I thought I'd put that to the test

As I say if I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up .:thumb:

I don't even know who that is. Is he some critic? I wouldn't give him and his opinions a second thought.:scream:

I do hope this statement is going to include a complete and concise list of all the bands we should be listening to nowadays, who are both 'important' and [ahem] 'cutting edge'. ;)

I'm really intrigued as to who's 'big' in Huddersfield these days.

Obviously I disagree with the facts, but it is interesting to hear different viewpoints, even if they are a bit biased.

As already said, he needs to justify his argument a little more in his 'press release'

i think it's going a bit too far to call him a wanker and a cunt over musical differences, but on the other hand music is so subjective that there are few 'facts' in the music world besides 'this is C sharp', etc. music is in the ear of the beholder; there are no laws.

Even C# is fairly mutable, I mean are you talking about pure major, pure minor or equal tempered tuning ;)

Maybe, but he is being really immature in his posts. I think that's what's getting people's backs up.

Good post Howie. The only thing I am against is when someone resorts to personal attacks against those not agreeing with their view or disrespects someone who discovered NO from the Get Ready/WFTSC era and wasn't into the band since their Warsaw days. That's wrong as IMO everyone is entitled to their views and someone who's only just got into NO from say Get Ready or WFTSC can be just as much a 'fan' of as someone who has seen them +50 times and bought Unknown Pleasures in 1979. My view is I still feel NO are pretty relevant/pushing boundaries within popular music culture and IMO worth my hard earned cash on singles, CD's and seeing them live. They've still got plenty of life left in them and are better than much of the pop/rock b******'s that's around now. They will call it a day at some point in the not to distant future so enjoy what they have done/are doing and agree to disagree. Again though if I'd seen them in 1980, '83, '85 or '89 I may feel differently and like Blunderer would be entitled to voice my opinion as much as someone who seen them this year and was awestruck by the gig! Cheers!!
