LWTUA- 100 versions

Did you guys know that there are over 100 groups who did different versions of LWTUA? I saw a program yesterday on Swedish tv about it...I did not know there were so many.It seems that it is the most recorded cover song ever.

It seems that it is the most recorded cover song ever.

I am sure that if you took a few of the crooner songs of the 50s you would find they have been covered by almost every half rate crooner in the world at least a dozen times a year since then - 100 is peanuts. If New Order does it, is it a cover?

Went to see Nerina Pallot last night and she did a version too. Of all the covers I've heard it was the most enjoyable. a bit like Kremlin meets Sia ...

Moonspell's version is awesome. Flowing Tears, The Diary & Schulz are good too though.

I'm sure deep down they did want to. That's why alot of their stuff sounds.. the way it does.

Did you really have to include New Order in that list? I mean is that really a cover if New Order does it, considering that three out of the four members of New Order wrote the song?

And when did U2 cover it?

I love the Swan's cover of LWTUA...both versions actually! They are both beautiful.

I know I am gonna get blasted for saying this.....

But I also love the Cure's version of LWTUA.....they changed it slightly, in a good way, but kept the beauty of the original.

Personally, I think it's brilliantly constructed, both musically and lyrically.

In fact as both a musician and critic, I can't find fault with it.

i'm glad they wrote it, but do we really need yet another cover version? heck, any cover version of any new order/joy division song is a .

I think that The Swans version is the best....

Probably once on the wikipedia entry, but deleted after because wikipedia discourages entries regarding trivia. That's why the reference to so-and-so who had some ridiculous tattoo saying LWTUA was nicely removed.

the frank sidebottom one isn't really a version of it, it's from a medley of machester songs including how i wrote elastic man, everyday is like sunday & a few others starts witha bit from love will tear us apart - it;s on you tube.
